God help us if Tupac ever writes a musical!

The theatre has had some really awful lyricists. Top of my list is Leslie Bricusse notably his words for JEKYLL & HYDE.

I find Charles Hart & Richard Stilgoe's lyrics for the long running (why???) PHANTOM OF THE OPERA to be boring and bland.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I've said it before, I'll say it again: If there are more than two decent syllables strung together in either J&H or MISS SAIGON, I'd be surprised.

Miss Saigon has some of the worst lyrics I have ever heard. Oh, I wish I could remember the little squabble lyrics between John/ Chris about Ellen in the beginning of the Second Act...SO funny!!!

Jack: For your information, most people who meet me do not know that I am gay. Will: Jack, blind and deaf people know you're gay. Dead people know you're gay. Jack: Grace, when you first met me, did you know I was gay? Grace: My dog knew.

Some of the most horrific were on a concept recording for Z! The Masked Musical. (Zorro musical) EW.

And I love "Woman in White" dearly, but I cringe whenever I hear "...you may dine on any single thing you wish / Though I'd wait for dinner, we are serving fish". Obvious rhyme! And the entire "Perspective" song, I just don't care for. I thought the rest of the show's lyrics were pretty good.

I found that most of the new songs created for Thoroughly Modern Millie had pretty terrible lyrics.

I agree with Jekyll and Hyde... especially the line "to kill outside St. Pauls, requires a lot of balls."

EganFan, I'm one of the few people who actually saw the Zorro musical. I had no idea there was a recording. Is Richard White on it?

Right I love Wicked but...

'For the first time I feel...Wicked' from As Long as You're Mine makes me cringe every time apart from when the touring cast do it. (The way it's deliverd makes a lot of difference)

The entire song "Summer Girls" by LFO.

I would rather hold a pan over my head and band it with a spoon than listen to that song.

"Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
gonna grab some afternoon delight.
My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right.
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night.
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day.
And you know the night is always gonna be there any way.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
a little afternoon delight.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Please be waiting for me baby when I come around.
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight."
