I hope Megan does it in costume!
Is anyone going to dress rehearsal and doing a photo preview?

Posted: 6/10/08 at 6:47amI find it odd that Xanadu is doing "Don't Walk Away" it's a great number, but Kerry Butler does not get to sing at all in it. They should have done a song with Butler like Suspended in Time or Suddenly, or better I'm Alive.

Posted: 6/10/08 at 10:43amHow do you know they're doing "Deep Love"? It's a horrible choice, and the only way it would get people to see the show is if they're Megan Mullally die-hards.

Cheyenne sells tickets. Kerry Butler doesn't.
That said, I wish they'd at least go into "Xanadu" for a small medley.

Posted: 6/10/08 at 11:47amI'm glad Patti is performing "Everything's Coming Up Roses". How long do the shows have to perform their number because I think it would be interesting to have the lead-in dialogue to the song "Look at the new star Herbie...".

Really? For Young Frankenstein they are doing Deep Love. I figured they'd do Transylvania Mania, considering it is a big group number. Deep Love is Megan and Shuler.
Hum.
I don't think thats a good choice but I also thought Xanadu would do Xanadu.

Posted: 6/10/08 at 6:15pmI guess Sondheim's Lifetime Achievement Award will be ignored.
#108re: 2008 Tony Awards: Performance List
Posted: 6/10/08 at 6:23pmWhy no word on Sondheim's Lifetime Achievement Award? I hope his award is not being ignored because too much time will be wasted in having The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Rent and Young Frankenstein needlessly perform.

It doesn't sound like there is a performance for Sonheim's award. They certainly would have announced it by now.
And if the Mugan Mullaly rumour is true, it would seem the 3 non-nominated shows performing are doing solos: "Part of Your World" for LITTLE MERMAID, rumoured "Deep Love" for YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, "Vision" from A CATERED AFFAIR (which Harvey revealed on his blog).

Well then, for the performances of the 3 non-nominated musicals - rumoured to only be alotted 1 minute each, though I think that seems almost impossible as to be practically only a Best 16 - will all be solo numbers.
Looking at it from a financial prospective, solos seem like a smart choice for the non-nominated productions. In fact, I would hate to be the producers of CRY BABY, which must gamble all that money to promote a show that isn't making any now.

i also think it's weird they chose Deep Love, obviously they want to use Megan to sell more tickets, but she's leaving like next month.
and do we know for sure they are only getting 1 min each? that'd suck.

What BORING BORING choices from most of these musicals...I'm a little let down. I hope it ends up being different.
XANADU should be doing a medley that includes I'm Alive, All Over The World, Suspended In Time, Xanadu...that would be better
YF should be doing PUTTIN' ON THE RITZ
and I believe, as far as I have been told, that RENT will be doing a medley of songs: Seasons of Love, Love Heals, and No day But Today
#114re: 2008 Tony Awards: Performance List
Posted: 6/11/08 at 11:19amYes, I hear RENT is doing the same arrangement they performed at their last Easter Bonnet: Seasons of Love, Love Heals, No Day But Today

Posted: 6/11/08 at 11:36am"Putting on the Ritz" would be a pretty pricey number, especially for a show that is doing so poorly they're slashing the salaries of the lead performers.

Posted: 6/11/08 at 1:39pmIm upset there wont be a medley for Xanadu. Im happy cheyenne will be singing Dont Walk Away but I thought they would feature Kerry a little more.

Posted: 6/11/08 at 7:04pmtoo bad they aren't doing 'Puttin on the Ritz' or 'Transylvania Mania'
#121re: 2008 Tony Awards: Performance List

I don't think there's anyway they could cut Puttin' on the Ritz or Transylvania Mania down to 90 seconds and make it work. Besides, Megan is their most recognizable cast member, so of course they want to feature her.
I heard that these three numbers (Deep Love, Part of Your World and Vision) will be done as a sort of medley/montage rather than each getting their own slot and introduction. So because of that they wanted to keep them smaller.

"I find it odd that Xanadu is doing "Don't Walk Away" it's a great number, but Kerry Butler does not get to sing at all in it."
See, that's exactly why I'm glad they're doing "Don't Walk Away".
