The BATB special will feature never-before-seen musical performances, new sets and costumes inspired by the classic story. Each performance, ABC says, will pay homage to the original animated favorite while also adding to its iconic story. Songs from the original animated classic will be performed in front of a live audience at Disney Studios.
This is ABC’s / Disney’s attempt to replicate the NBC holiday season live musicals… and I’ve got little hope for this one after Mermaid sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
Ive been waiting for them to do this. NBC and Fox had some success with the live musical thing so I hope they can be successful with this one and make up for the tragic Little Mermaid.

ABC’s Little Mermaid Live averaged 9 million total viewers and a 2.6 demo rating, making it the highest-rated live musical TV event since Fox’s Grease Live, which posted a 4.3 in January 2016. In total audience, it was the most watched live TV musical event since NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live (in April 2018).

This isn’t Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Live! They’re showing the film and when the songs come up, they’ll do live-action type of presentation. Like what they did horribly with THE LITTLE MERMAID. NBC and FOX did TV adaptations of full musicals.
I must be in the minority, because I actually thought the little mermaid presentation was nicely done.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

I’m glad they’re being more up front about what it is this time. Part of what made The Little Mermaid so disappointing was that the descriptions ahead of time were much more unclear so I think a lot of us were expecting something closer to an actual live tv musical

I think a big part of the issue with The Little Mermaid Live! is that the fast-moving story with an action-heavy climax just doesn't translate well to a more stationary format. BTAB is a much better fit...

Apparently, you didn't read the part that said "The rest of the talented cast, whose performances will be seamlessly woven through the original feature film, will be announced at a later date."
Luke Evans and Josh Gad should reunite as Gaston and Lefou. They were hilarious in the 2017 remake - and their planned prequel series was canned earlier this year. This would compensate for that greatly!

Right, so it’s the whole thing (sorry I said “show” and not movie 🙄) as opposed to just performances like the Disney sing-along. Still not as excited. Unless they give me an Angela Lansbury moment.
The racists are in full force after this announcement.

She's def. an out of left field choice. Her vibe/voice doesn't seem suited for this, but that's what has me interested. I don't see her all smiles walking around waving at the townsfolk. But hey, I'm interested.
