OMFG. Those casting choices are insanely perfect. I am SO happy that Joshua Henry is getting more and more exposure, he is absurdly talented and perfect for Gaston.
Dammit! I wasn’t going to watch this piece of crap, but now I have to…if only to support my Puerto Rican icon/legend/trailblazer - - - RITA FRIGGIN MORENO!!!!
I figured that "Home," "A Change In Me," "If I Can't Love Her," "Human Again", and "Evermore" would be added into this performance with the small possibility of "Me".

Well, for what it’s worth, Human Again was written for the original animated film. I believe that in one of the releases of the movie on DVD a few years ago, it either had the song done with either the storyboard art or the full animation with the song sung by the movie cast.

ABC has confirmed the principal cast for the highly anticipated animated and live-action blended special, "Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration."
Celebrated comedian and Emmy® Award-winning actor Martin Short has been confirmed to play Lumière; Tony® Award winner David Alan Grier will play Cogsworth; Rizwan Manji joins the cast as Gaston's loyal sidekick, LeFou; and Jon Jon Briones will play Belle's loving father, Maurice.
Viewers are also in for a major treat as five-time GRAMMY Award® winner and top-selling female country pop artist
Shania Twain is joined by rising star Leo Abelo Perry, playing everyone's favorite mother-son duo, Mrs. Potts and Chip.
Since Maurice is going to be played by a live actor (who in this case is Jon Jon Briones), I wonder if he'll actually have something to sing. Could it be 'No Matter What' from the Broadway version or 'How Does a Moment Last Forever' from the live action remake? I know the former has been cut from the currently licensed version of the show (although it is still optional if the people putting on a production would still like to use that song).
I saw The Little Mermaid Live at the Hollywood Bowl and it was cool, but I don't really see this format working in a televised format. Going from the film to the live performances was even a bit jarring even in person.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

ABC already attempted this with THE LITTLE MERMAID - they played the animated film then would go into this large-scale production for the musical numbers. Same concept is being done with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST:
I'm not a fan of this concept. It comes off as schizophrenic. Either play the film or do a live version for television. This is one of my all-time favorite Disney animated films and to see it be given this kind of treatment for its 30th anniversary is a bit disconcerting to say the least.
The photos only serve to solidify how I feel about this venture. Another poster pointed out that it looks cheap, and I agree, It does.
I will definitely sit this one out and just watch the film proper.
That being said, I am sure this will be a ratings bonanza.
The original film is my favourite film of all time. I am actually really excited to see this. It's looks more interesting than The Little Mermaid Live, which, I wasn't 100% a fan of. But, it looks more concept, and more like they are popping out of a storybook, which fits the show. I think that Beauty and the Beast has always been a solid property for Disney that they have used to experiment with, and I'm excited. Also, the casting is exciting, and the representation is great.
