Nobody ever agrees with these lists. I would imagine if you hang around a bunch of BoCo cuties for years you start literally picking up their vocabulary and things are like the best or worst EVERRRRRRR.
But I'm not invested either way.
I personally think it's pointless to start picking apart this writer's ranking choices. Obviously we're all gonna have vastly different opinions from each other
(that being said, I have to admit, I'm surprised Cats isn't on the worst list...)

I'm assuming he's basing this list on cast albums he's heard. Because if he had seen the Broadway version of "In My Life" that would have been top of the list of worst musicals. At least with something like Mary Poppins or Jekyl & Hyde, there are one or two songs that are nice. In My Life had nothing. It was terrible from the first note to the last.
For any 'worst' list that contains the word 'Kristina', the compiler is clearly DEAF.

I think he also snubs the "country" musicals like Shenandoah and Big River.
Mary Poppins doesn't just have one or two songs that are nice, the whole score is wonderful. It is better in thee film, but the Brodway version still has the songs.

Anything Goes needs to be much higher on the list. Rent is too high on the list.
"Rent" is too damn high.

I'm only shocked because he says his reasoning that "good musicals" run for a good amount of time, have tours, revivals and tons of regional procutions... then puts musicals like Jekyll & Hyde and Sister Act on the worst lists, which both have countless regional productions now/scheduled and also both have tours running currently. Though I supposed Starlight Express and The Addams Family could both fall into this, and The Addams Family definitely belongs on the list.
And if it's supposedly about "artistry," how can "Motown the Musical" be so low on the list of worst ... Berry Gordy's love letter to Berry Gordy mis-stating facts and brushing over any negativity.

A lot of his worst shows are, at worst, just forgettable or mediocre.
Reg wins the thread.
Well, I have seen 80 on the best list and 16/17 on the worst list.
My worst didn't make his list: "God Bless you, Mr. Rosewater" Menken & Ashman's first collaboration.
One of my top 5: "In The Heights" didn't make his top 100.
Jekyll & Hyde ***
Evil Dead: The Musical *
9 to 5 ***
The Addams Family ***
Rocky ****
Ghost ***
Bare **
Carrie *
Tarzan **
Mamma Mia ***
Young Frankenstein ***
Lysistrata Jones **
Mary Poppins ****
Victor/Victoria ***
Sister Act ***
A Tale of Two Cities (Broadway DVD, so not sure count that) ***
Motown - The Musical ***
I have seen close to 400 musical on stage. I would guess 1 & 2 star shows would be in my bottom 50. Evil Dead is kind class that could go up, if you are looking for a campy night and drinking with friends I would give ***.
I don't care to see "Camelot" or "She Loves Me" ever again although I have seen "She Loves Me" only once, so may give it another chance.
I find it interesting he put "Ain't Misbehavin'" which has no book and is essentially just a cabaret.
Others I disagree with:
"I Do, I Do" *
"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" **

I don't know. I don't think you're supposed to take these lists so seriously. I think you're probably just supposed to have fun with it. But I don't know, whatever.
Well if Chris Caggiano takes lists seriously then I think we all should.

Me no likey the Caggiano.
Disagree with about 20 on the worst list. Did not even look at the best after some of the worst choices.
When I got to "Romance/Romance" on the BEST I knew it was time to stop reading.
Would not agree to Mary Poppins and Side Show in the worst
I've seen live productions of 10 of his worst and 54 of his best.
Have to be careful of what I say---I looked him up on Facebook and I have 25 mutual friends. :)

Oh! Calcutta! ran for years, had a revival and even had a video produced and sold to the public. (It was horny Japanese tourists who kept it open) So that blows his theory out of the water even though I agree it's not a great musical.
Does Mr. Caggiano know that a departed poster named Liza's Headband was sort-of stalking him here a few months ago?

Yes, I know it's his opinion but having read some of the titles on his 50 Worst List, there are titles there I don't agree with.
