I second Christine Ebersole, but I would like to add Marin Mazzie.

After Patti leaves...
Broadway will be a quieter place
and
the production will close the same day she leaves.

AGAIN??
Anyway. Ebersole is all wrong for Rose. And Ebersole has played Mame in a full scale production at Papermill, and I've heard it wasn't a good fit for her.

Oh, I forgot ... Christine Baranski.

Nathan Lane. Matthew Broderick can be Herbie and the whole thing will be redirected by Joe Mantello.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Baranski could not sing it. She could barely sing Carlotta in FOLLIES.

I would love to see Mary Testa in the role that it might become a bit too funny... And Meryl Streep was the first person that came to my mind though I don't know if her voice is right.

I say we re-animate Ethel Merman's corpse. That will get people in the seats.

Or, alternatively, we can Chicago it and go with Haylie Duff.

Like um, Haylie Duff was NEVER in CHICAGO. She was in HAIRSPRAY.

Brody, scaryclown223 was stating how Chicago always resorts to stunt casting and how Haylie Duff would be stunt casting. I'm sure you got that because you would be incompetent not to see the sarcasm and you are a very sarcastic poster, but I just thought I'd clarify just in case.

I am guessing CHICGO is now a verb that means "cast random celebrity in a show they have no business doing hoping to get some tourist to come see them."

Brody, I believe that was a reference to Chicago's habit of hideously inappropriate stunt casting . . .
Am I the only one that doesn't want the production to run past Patti's departure?

Actually the Weissler's stunt casting is usually good. The only real stunt some HATED was Melanie Griffith, but she managed to get some rave reviews from the critics. Go figure.
But it seems they've calmed down on stunt casting lately.
