Alan Tudyk was horrendous in EPIC PROPORTIONS. Then again, that was one of the worst plays ever, and would probably drag any and all involved with it down. Still, he had absolutely no stage presence then.
As much as I loved Hank Azaria in the role, right now I'm totally wishing I'd waited until summer for my big NYC trip. I would KILL to see Alan Tudyk in the role. I'm a big fan of his from Firefly. I'm betting he'll do an excellent job.
Love Tudyk. Great in Firefly (and can't wait for the film coming soon) and Dodgeball. Don't forget he was the robot in I-Robot too. And he played some other weird accent in that movie 28 Days with Sandra Bullock. And he voiced some characters in Ice Age. He's funny, cute, and I'm sure he'll be great.

I knew Alan when he was a sixth grader competing in speech tournaments. Even then he was keeping us in stitches.
Congrats Alan!

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space
on playbill.com it says after june 6th but on broadway.com is says he will take over june 8th. everyone knows that june 7th is the performance after the tony's soooo maybe hank will stay for that show and leave after?
After starting several threads on this subject, we finally get the date that Hank is going out. I, for one, am very disappointed (but I KNOW.... that is the life of a theater ticketholder). I have tickets to see the show on 6/17.
I think it is very bad policy to (seemingly) go out of your way to keep his SCHEDULED departure a secret (especially for one of the featured "stars" of this show). For months all we heard was "Hank is going out some time in mid-June".... lets see, 30 days in June divided by 2 = 15th. What math are they using. I tried in vain to find out what dates, but no specific dates were mentioned.
Why couldn't they be up front about the date and actual existance of the fact that he was going out?
And please, all you "theater veterans", I have been coming to NYC from out of town since 1983, so don't respond that I am a stupid bumpkin who doesn't know how live theater works. This was pure and simple deception on the part of the producers of this show. I have seen other shows that advertised when a primary player had a SCHEDULED time off.
I love Hank Azaria - he was one of my main reasons for getting tickets to this show (although I saw the original Holy Grail movie during its initial release in the 70's, I am NOT a true Python follower). I hope he DOES NOT take home the Tony. Theater requires a commitment to stay in the show for more than 6 months. Yeah, I know he is coming back at Thanksgiving - so all those that see it between June and November don't count... or are we supposed to see it again for the priveledge of seeing him?
Lastly, for those who post there "is no star of the show" - I say hooey. You see Hank, Tim Curry and David Hyde Pierce mentioned everywhere, pushing the show and doing personal appearances.
I was holding out hope he would leave after my scheduled tickets, but alas it was not to be. Very disappointing.
