Andrew Barth Feldman at DEH

Does anyone know if Andrew Barth Feldman is out of DEH this week? I have tickets for Saturday night August 17 for my birthday.I saw something on a Fan Site but wasnt sure if I'd read it right and now can't find it . Thanks

I did see that his understudy tweeted he went on a couple of times last week. Don't know if that was planned in advance or not.

As far as I'm aware- he only performs on certain days-- all night shows but Tuesdays, and not on Wednesday or Saturday matinees. Could be out, he might not be.

Andrew’s mother passed away last week, so that is the reason why he has been out.

I remember seeing on twitter that his mother had passed away last week, and there's an obit from a Long Island paper. I imagine that was the reason he was out and off of social media (where he is normally quite active).

How absolutely heartbreaking. I will be thinking of him and his mother for days to come. I'm sure she was beyond proud of what he is doing.

What sad news. That’s going to be quite a harrowing role to get back into after something so poignant. Especially for an actor still so young.

That’s such awful news. I hope he takes all the time he needs before coming back, if he even chooses to. That’s a heavy headspace to be in after something like that. Especially for someone going into their senior year.

Sounds like she was a beautiful soul and was an incredibly accomplished woman. This is deeply sad.

They added Tuesday’s for him. It’s because of his age, he’s not allowed to do 8 shows a week. That’s why they usually double or more for kids on Broadway, unless it’s a whole ensemble of kids in a show, like School of Rock or Matilda.

Off topic, but I believe this is incorrect, and kids can perform 8x/week. This is just a myth. The role of Evan has used an alternate for 2 shows a week since mid-Platt run.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that Anthony Rosenthal did 8 shows a week in Falsettos. (Though the role was split between two young actors for the tour.)

This just made me cry. To lose your mother this young- I can’t fathom. Will all of this pressure on him. He’s just a kid. Just so awful. Between this and Hansen- he sure is having to grow up fast. I hope he takes all the time he needs and if that means exiting the show permanently- I wouldn’t blame him for a second. Wow.

I finally saw the show at the Kennedy Center last night and throughout the show, I was wondering how the heck Andrew does this role 8 times a week. I finally understood why Ben had to go to therapy every week. Such a psychological workout. I really hope Andrew takes his time to get well emotionally & mentally and to not to rush things.

So did Sarah Charles Lewis in Tuck Everlasting - I remember reading that her understudy never got to go on as Winnie Foster.

So heartbroken about Andrew's mom - she seemed like a wonderful woman.

I thought he added Tuesday night shows in late April. I remember he posted about it at the time.

I haven't seen anything about his mom other than what's in this thread but if true, that's heartbreaking. In every interview I've read, he's talked about how close they are and how she came to every show when he first started in the role.

Andrew tweeted today about how he's excited about the new cast members and urging people to come see the "new family", which makes it sound like he will be returning to the show.

Also, he posted a remix of Old Town Road today with the Test Track queue music.  He's back. :)
