I presume AC126748 might’ve been referring to this.

Well, I do. Saw Montego last night. Mostly full house.
She was brilliant. I've also seen Audra, as well as every other Broadway Rose since Tyne.
Glover has the voice to belt the entire show, but wisely held her vocal cards a bit closer to her chest in the first act. ECUR was the first real taste of what she could do when really letting go. It was brilliant.
Her Rose's Turn was epic. Not as blisteringly sad as what Audra is doing, but very much her own version and she absolutely crushes the vocal. It's strong, angry and pointed.
Glover's performance easily finds the comedy and there's a natural ease with how she interacts with Danny. The streaks of anger and 'it should be me up there' are evident throughout and wonderfully uncomfortable.
The negativity on this thread from some people who will never see this performance feels on-brand.

Or other folks see the show and have their own feelings that differ from yours. Again, two things can be true here.

Why is it if someone has a different opinion it is either considered negative or hateful? Just odd to me.
I was reading where others said there were plenty of seats available last night or maybe they were just referring to the closed off sections.

It looks like they might be closing the rear mezz.

FWIW, I thought Lea’s “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” was electrifying. Honestly? Even out of context, in the middle of a revue, I enjoyed it more than Audra’s rendition.
Closing the rear mezz AND the rear orchestra is crazy. I don’t see this production lasting very much longer, even with Audra. What a disappointment on so many levels.

Will be interesting to see how it's reported in the grosses. If they are not counting the closed off sections as far as attendance goes it might look like the show sold 75% of seats when in all actuality it's probably half that. Grosses will be quite dismal one way or the other.

If this production had ANY reason for being this casting would be the antithesis of this production.

It was Rose by ways of Disney princess.
Bell-clear vocals, but no desperation or soul.

Spot on. And true to all her work, in my opinion.

From a financial point of view, given the money they are likely to lose this week and next, you have to wonder whether they should have just closed for good. Between the limited seats and the reduced prices, they are going to have a bloodbath. Will they even be able to recover the money lost in these two weeks, let alone the original investment.

Could not disagree more. The night I saw it, she was on FIRE channeling Merman and not even anywhere near the realm of “Disney princess.”

Oh don’t be so doom and gloom.
It has been above $1 mil for all but two weeks in the year 2025.
Now, that still means it could have lost money some weeks (what’s it cost to run, $1.2?) but they’re only on sale through the first week of October anyways. As long as Audra is consistently on 8x a week I doubt we see an early closing.
Whatever happens, investors will not see a dollar."
lol yea it's whatever you always say and hey look at all the doom and gloom posts after mine

Montego was brilliant! She was vocally perfect and though she had deep emotion and pathos and anger...she held onto the notes. I was so moved by her performance.

I know I should be the one being told this, but you guys need to be more grateful about having the resources and money to see all this theatre in the theatre capital. The arts are dying and heavily underfunded and over budgeted in today’s world, it should not cost 1.2 million for a revival of Gypsy or 1.16 million for a production of cabaret. The least you can do is buy your ticket, shut the **** up, and watch and support the damn show."
Diva, you have no information about how much how many people are just scrapping by to live here. Don't try and tell people that they should just put up and shut up when they put down money to see something. Thisproduction in particular is not some tiny small production being put up in a tiny little theatre, it's a vanity project financed to put Audra on stage by rich producers. Save the dramatics."
Do you understand what vanity project means?

Glad to hear Glovers performance has gotten better as the week has progressed.

I heard audio of her EVERYTHING'S and the section after the keychange sounds quite thrilling since she belts it, whereas Audra uses head voice.
