Her brother just tweeted: "moving back to NYC for a bit... i wonder what for?

The Sun is the UK's most widely circulated paper, though not terribly reliable.

I truly hope this is not true. As a big fan of Grande I will be the first to admit that she is not suited to play Elphaba. Also, Wicked does not need to resort to stunt casting to stay afloat.

The tweet from Frankie makes this just a bit more plausible- still going to be doubting this until the very day it’s announced. I wouldn’t be terribly opposed to this, though; I think her voice could go well with the part/score and it’s much more suited to her than Penny. Also there’s a few videos on YouTube showing her singing songs from the show. She’s not half bad imo

Woah, this rumor is getting way outta hand already.

If this is true, could it mean she'll also take on the role in the film? I'd be very, very pleased by that.

While I am in LOVE with she and her music, I just don't see this happening right now. She's about to release her new album and, I'd imagine, wouldn't have time to do 8 shows a week. Maybe she's starring in the film adaptation? I'd be down for that. However, I do think she needs some acting lessons to prep for the role. This isn't a horrible idea though!

Ariana can do the movie

This is the only reason I'd see her doing the role on Broadway. And it's kind of brilliant, if you think about it. Let her do a few months in the role on stage so she can feel it out (while simultaneously upping your premium seat prices to make a boatload at the box office) before casting her—now an experienced Elphaba—in the film? Win-win for the producing team.

I don't think Wicked need any stunt casting.
I would love to see Ariana as Glinda in the movie tho, and possibly Demi Lovato as Elphaba.

Wicked has never done stunt casting and I really don't think they need to start now.

Demi as Elphaba is an inspired idea. I would even rather see her like do the role on Broadway.

As someone who lived through the "Raven Symone as Elphaba" scare of the mid-2000's, I feel like this might be fake about Ariana Grande in the show.
AS for Frankie Grande, not a fan of him at all! Didn't like him on Big Brother, nothing. I don't like him. However, I will agree with the previous poster who said, its not like Wicked needs to "stunt-cast". I mean, celebrities have gone into the show (Rue McCanahan, Joey Mcintyre, Jo Ann Worley to name a few), and they didn't announce it full out like Chicago, or Cabaret.
