Second Stage Theater has announced that Armie Hammer and Tom Skerritt will appear in the Broadway production of Young Jean Lee's dark comedy, STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. Previews to begin on June 29, 2018 with an opening on Monday, July 23, 2018.

I saw Anna Shapiro's production of this at the Steppenwolf in Chicago and it was fantastic. I wasn't aware at the time that it would transfer to Broadway, but it absolutely makes sense. It's a great play with a poignant, essential central message. Can't wait to see how this production fares in NYC!

How is it that Second Stage has been able to get all of these A and A- List Stars and yet Roundabout is limping along with B and C listers at best?

He's not, actually. Although his great-grandfather and namesake owned stock in the company, it pre-dated even him. It was just a weird coincidence.

I agree! I'm waiting anxiously for "Call Me By Your Name" to come out in wide release. I think it's going to be a good year for him. I'm going to have to delay my Spring visit for 2018. There's a couple of productions coming out in the summer now that I'm interested in. This is definitely one!

He’s doing fine with movies; he has three in post-production right now. Also, on the CMBYN press tour he’s talked a lot about how he wanted to stop chasing blockbuster movies (he kept getting lead roles and the movies kept flopping) and start doing projects that challenged and inspired him, so he probably just really wants to do this show.

I was referring more to whoever was able to convince him to come to Broadway at this point in time, right at the beginning of the awards season. Any Broadway producer would love the publicity (especially with an Oscar nomination) this will bring to the show.
(Let's just hope that they Scotchgard the seats of the theatre. And the back of the seats, for that matter.)

I feel like a lot of Oscar/awards season contenders do Broadway during that time. I mean Metcalf will be on Broadway - and she'll probably be up for Lady Bird - etc. It happens every spring.

Second Stage has finally put up the performance schedule. As of now, the show will be running June 29th through September 9th. From the looks of the calendar, opening night will be July 24th.

Hopefully this means there will be an announcement about ticket sales soon! With Young Jean Lee and Anna D. Shapiro behind it, I'm actually more excited for this than Lobby Hero. A shame Armie Hammer doesn't have the Oscar nomination to boost interest like folks predicted here.

Subscriber bookings started today, but there was no info in my email saying when public sales start. I don't remember the timing between subscriber booking & public on-sale for Lobby Hero. I booked that on 11/7/17, which was likely the first day of subscriber bookings as well.

I mean, no one is banging down the doors to see Cera and Evans, and I'd say they'd be more of a hot ticket than Hammer, who isn't in any major blockbusters.
