BENJAMIN BUTTON musical and more set for The Public

The Public Theater announced the line-up for The Public’s Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 season.
-- Lisa Sanaye Dring’s Public Works’ Public Record co-directed and choreographed by Dan Canham, directed by Emily Lim, from September 4-8 at the Delacorte Theater
-- Red Bull Theater’s How Shakespeare Saved My Lifewritten and performed by Jacob Ming-Trent, directed by Tony Taccone, a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theater and Folger Theatre from September 15-October 18at the Shiva Theater
-- Taylor Mac & Matt Ray’s Songs From Bark Of Millionsperformed by The Plethora as part of Joe's Pub in the Park from September 18-20 at the Delacorte Theater
-- Good Time Charlie by Ryan J. Haddad, directed by Danny Sharron, from September 24-October 18 at Martinson Hall
-- The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button with book and lyrics by Jethro Compton and music and lyrics by Darren Clark, directed by Compton, from October 8-November 15at the Newman Theater
-- Richard Nelson’s We’ll See featuring Sally Murphy, Maryann Plunkett, Laila Robins, and Jay O. Sanders, from October 25-November 22 at the Barbaralee Theater
-- Fiasco Theater’s production of Susan Glaspell's TheVerge directed by Jessie Austrian and featuring Miriam Silverman, from October 27-November 22 at LuEsther Hall
-- James Ijames’s Welcome Table directed by Rachel Chavkin in Winter 2027
-- Bedlam’s production of Emily Breeze’s Are The Bennet Girls Ok? directed by Eric Tucker in Winter 2027
-- The Joe’s Pub season will feature the 2026-27 Vanguard Residency curated by Murray Hill and New York Voices commissions by Morgan Bassichis and EMEL.
-- In partnership with NoHo Hospitality Group, and longtime Joe’s Pub founders, The Public will transform the lobby, Levin Mezzanine, and The Library at The Public into more vibrant, welcoming spaces designed for more gathering, conversation, and connection with a new aesthetic, designed by Serge Becker and Jason Volenec.

This is smarter. It would flop so hard opening cold on Broadway. Not to mention that they’re almost definitely tweaking the book, which was almost impenetrably Cornish in London.

I so hope John Dagleish and Clare Foster come over with BENJAMIN BUTTON, along with the entire London cast.

SUPER excited for Benjamin Button, and I think it'll be wonderful in a more intimate space before it inevitably heads to Broadway. Also excited to see Bennet Girls in the lineup since I missed that off Broadway.

That's a bummer. I'm terrified about the "accents" we are going to hear.

Does the public ever extend these? I really want to see Button but the date it closes is conflicting either the dates Galileo and Inter Alia are opening with my trip and other stuff going on if it extended like a week it would all work out.

And I believe extended Seat of Our Pants and Initiative last year.

I did as well for the current final weekend. Seems likely that this will extend though.

The last possible extension for Benjamin is December 13th, 3 weeks from current closing date.

It's already selling quite well and quickly.
