OOTI has not, contrary to what seems like popular belief in some quadrants, been barely breaking even. Except for a handful of frames, it has consistently been in the red.
Re the comparison on Angels and 3TW, note that the former has 50% more seats to sell.

That’s awesome! Thanks for the info! Were you able to buy seats for both performances at the same time or did you have to return to the booth to buy your ticket for the part 2?"
I went Thursday and Friday nights so no I had to buy them separately, but it wasn't a big deal.
Thursday I was Row C left hand centre aisleseat and Friday I was Row D right hand centre aisle seat.
Most of Lane's scenes are stage right and Garfield's are stage left so it was a nice mix of seeing both up close.

Thanks for the great info. Based on your description, i think I’d prefer stage left but would be satisfied with either. Because of already purchased tickets for 5 productions, I’m banking on doing the parts 1 & 2 marathon on Wednesday. Already have reservations at Victor’s next door between parts 1 & 2. I suppose I could run over to TKTS in between to get my part 2 ticket.
Do you guys think The Boys in the Band will keep these grosses until summer? I'm planning on seeing the show in July and I like to purchase all of my tickets in advance - I still need to purchase TBITB and TBV tickets for my trip but I can only purchase one right now. What show do you guys think I need to purchase for first?
don't message me thinking im taylor trensch?? what would he be doing on bww?? you can't possibly be that dumb bye

The Boys in The Band probably, and try to buy your Bands Visit tickets before the Tonys
During the week of April 23, both Whoopi Goldberg and Jimmy Fallon gave it rave reviews on their respective shows ("The View"; "The Tonight Show" pushing audiences to go see the show and have a great time. Each host loved the show - and if anyone can get people (esp. tourists) in those seats for a while, it's these two hosts. (One appeals to the daytime female audience, the other to a more cross-over night time audience).
That was the obvious part. I'm talking about "OOTI has not, contrary to what seems like popular belief in some quadrants, been barely breaking even. Except for a handful of frames, it has consistently been in the red."
What is your source for saying that they are mostly always in the red?
Hogan is just supposed to be trusted, because he’s supposedly in the know

On double show days they sell both show tickets together so you'll be fine.
Impossible2 - that’s the best news I’ve heard all day. Thanks! How’s legroom in front Orchestra? I feel like a broken record on here, but I have long legs and bad knees. I usually aim for aisle seats for that reason, but Orchestra seats are usually fine. I was fine with my mid-Row Orchestra Seat at the Schubert. However, this is a long time commitment and don’t want to be in pain for 7+ hours.

Oh sorry, I was just going on the placement of your question. It was reported early on that the show's nut is in the high 400s. (I thought that was a bit low, but if that's what they say then that's what they say.) You can easily pull up the grosses for the run and see that there have been precious few weeks in which they were above water. (Don't forget to deduct 10% to reach the net gross before you do the compare.) And also note that while that addresses the technical matter of being in the red or not, it is still nowhere near the point at which there is the first dollar to send to investors towards recoupment.
BTW, I disagree with the 2 people who posted just under you.
(Don't forget to deduct 10% to reach the net gross before you do the compare.)
From what I heard from a veteran Broadway producer, there are two ways royalties are calculated. The creatives can take either a certain percentage of weekly grosses or a higher percentage of the part above the water.

Standardly, royalty is a percentage of the gross (not just the creatives but the theatre, the producer, etc) but these are matters of contract so one can negotiate something else. I suspect you were hearing about royalty pools which are agreements that defer royalties in part, but they have triggers based on recoupment, not profit.
But that's not what the 10% is at all. It refers to the approximate amount of the fees that come off the top before the producer gets the money from the box office in the first place.

I had an aisle seat so I was fine as I could stretch out into the aisle, plus the seat beside me was empty both times so I kinda lucked out. It seemed ok though.
Summer may be a member of the million dollar clubs, but we also have to take into account its playing at the Lunt-Fontanne, a theater that evicts productions more often the producers pull the plug on their own. The Little Mermaid was pushed out for The Addams Family, The Addams Family was pushed out for Ghost, Motown was pushed out for Finding Neverland. I don't want to be a spoil sport, but Summer at this moment looks like it could be a sleeper hit, but sleeper hits don't playthe Lunt-Fontanne. The only reason its playing there is that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, ate through its advance faster then Augustus Gloop can eat a chocolate bar, and the Neaderlander's didn't have another musical spectacle waiting in the wings. If Beatlejuice or Moulin Rouge look promising and Summer falls out of the million dollar club, Summer will either close in January or forced to move theaters.
I know being next door to a popular show doesn't necessarily help anyone. But I think the Gershwin/Circle in the Square is a special case tucked away as they are. I get why there wasn't necessarily crossover between the Wicked audience and the audiences for Fun Home and In Transit. But Once On This Island is basically a fairy tale. It might be a little scary for little kids and there's the whole sex without marriage/mistress thing but I thought Wicked appealed to more of a teenage girl crowd anyway. If they're going to see Wicked, why aren't they also going to see OOTI?
Miles2Go2 said: "Jessetenny said: "Spongebob needs to win some Tonys to help it stay afloat.
Once on This Island I heard has an extremely low running cost.. so hopefully it's not in the red yet.
OOTI may(!) be barely running in the blackeach week, but even if it is, it seems impossible that it will ever recoup its initial investment. Also, I think the fact that the Outer Critics Circle Awards rewarded My Fair Lady over OOTI doesn’t bode well for OOTI at the Tony Awards. It needs that best revival win if it has any hopes of running longer.
If this is true, then it should start packing now. It's not going to win Best Revival. I'm not sure whether MFL or Carousel gets it (although my $ is on MFL), but I'd better a good dinner it's not OOTI
-- I am amazed that 3 Tall Women is doing better than Angels. I know it got great reviews, but so did Angels. I am assuming three reasons why it is doing better: (1) (far and away key reason)Glenda Jackson return to Broadway with reviews of a lifetime; (2) Too recent revival of Angels Off-Broadway; and (3) time / cost commitment to see Angels.
For me, as an out of towner, it was really hard to get tickets that I wanted for Angels. I didn't want to spend an entire Saturday, and they weren't sell them separately until the last minute. Then, when we could get tickets at the last minute (for Part I), we had to leave before the final scene to get to the airport.
I'm glad I saw what I saw (although TTW and Angels back to back made for a pretty angsty weekend), but I think Angels made a calculated choice in how/when they performed and how they sell their tickets.
