Today's report now concludes the first quarter of the 2025-26 season, we are at a $1.84 billion pace which is slightly lower than 2024-25. (There was also an extra week added last season.)
Happy trails to CALL ME IZZY, and Adi Roy who concluded a solid yearlong run as Aladdin on Sunday. (The charming Ainsley Melham begins tonight.)
Reminder that, when making commentary, be sure to take into consideration that Kids’ Night on Broadway was part of last week’s grosses

I am truly happy that Jeff Ross is playing to nearly empty houses, but still could and should be lower....
I feel like most shows, old and new, have been pretty steady this summer. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the calendar turns to September.

Moulin, Hells Kitchen, Stranger Things, and several others running in the red every week. How is that good for the investors or the town?

I’m curious how close Purpose or John Proctor are to recouping. Certainly they must be getting awfully close.

I think it closes after season five comes out, probably early January. Netflix really fumbled the ball on this one. I’m sure they’ll send out a cheapish tour via NETworks.
I did not think Cabaret could fall any further. But WOW. There are also several performances this week being heavily papered. So expect similar or worse grosses next Tuesday. Perhaps everyone is buying bucketloads of drinks during the pre-show since their tickets are free? I don't know why else to entertain keeping it open through October.
I believe Purpose has already recouped, they just haven't announced it. I don't know about John Proctor, but I have to imagine that they've recouped by now. I can see both shows making the announcement as part of their final week.
I don't think Hell's Kitchen and Harry Potter are super long for this world. The $800K range seems to be the new normal for HK, which is not enough to sustain a show of that size. Potter always leaps back up the charts during peak tourist weeks, but the lows in between those periods have gotten worse and worse over time. I could see both packing it up this winter (though HP is of course impossible to accurately predict since it's part of a larger brand strategy from WB and who knows how long execs will want to sink money into it).

Cabaret was pretty noticeably empty over the weekend. I was in the side orchestra on the side they built up (on the stage in the proscenium layout) and I was the only person in my row, with only another single person in the row behind me. The ushers were offering for us to move up closer as there were empty seats there too, and the mezz on the other side had lots of empty seats too. Porter being out for half of last week doesn’t seem to have really had an impact, for better or worse.

Feels like they have to be holding out for the S5 premeire or at least when more buzz starts to build. They've at least released trailers for it

Don't forget Harry Potter has Tom Felton coming in later this year. That will likely give it a significant bump for his run, and may also be delaying people seeing it.

because he was credibly accused of grooming an underage girl in a story New York Magazine ran five years ago with multiple sources, plays footsie with alt-right/maga comics like Tony Hincliffe and supports Trump. Additionally the shows lead producer Eric Nederlander had a restraining order taken out against him by his second ex-wife over domestic violence threats

I love (not really) how, even though the first part of this was more than enough to answer the question, the second part was still included. Because everything has to be about politics. So bizarre.

Must be nice to not have any of your rights impacted by Trump and his supporters, whats that like?
BoringBoredBoard40: I didn't know about any of that, but I'm glad I know now. Thank you. And I appreciate the fact that you added the Trump information (which I confirmed independently ). Like many, I support or protest with my wallet, and glad to be made aware of this monster...and the even worse demon he supports.
Being morally superior to the likes of Jeff Ross is not that difficult of an achievement, but kudos to you if that’s what you need, Boring.
Can we get back to the business of things or do you just want to keep grinding this axe even though his show is clearly a flop? No one cares about his show let alone what his personal controversies are. There’s no real point to shouting into the void about it. We got it the first seven times it was brought up on this board, and his Broadway endeavor (nor his standup career) are really in a place where it needs to be knocked down a peg. Life and the world at large already has.

We've talked about them before, but Juliet, HK, Moulin, and Great Gatsby must be gearing up for closing announcements or scrambling to stunt-cast, right? (Stranger Things would be there too but Netflix is its own thing.)
Any rumors of who the next Mary is? Or does Jinkx have an extension? Her final performance is just a little more than a month away.
The Kill Tony thing is kind of neither here nor there. They’re a major force in comedy and just sold out Madison Square Garden. Of course you’d attach yourself on some way.
Was he found guilty of all the allegations? It seems like credible or not it doesn’t seem like anything was actually figured out? I’m not saying anything either way because I honestly don’t care about that man or his show but seems odd to continuously bash it at every mention.
