Posted: 5/6/21 at 10:55amIs there a roundup thread of what shows are currently on sale? I got SIX for 9/17 but I’d to be seeing a show on 9/14 if for nothing else, the symbolism of being back.

signs point to Hamilton, Lion King, and Wicked making a joint announcement (possibly Tuesday next week) that they’re opening on Sept 14
no other shows that I’ve seen have announced openings that early (Phantom in Oct, Harry Potter 2022, etc)

This is so exciting!! Would anyone be down to make a thread for the new season with theaters, shows, and re-opening dates? I know someone (I forget who) always did this for each season and I found it super helpful.

"I'm fine with only people who have been vaccinated being allowed in theaters. Stupid people don't get to experience the magic. Period."
So teenagers under 16 can't go to shows, gotcha.

Pretty sure teenagers will be allowed to get vaccines by then. But if Broadway were to open now were with no social distancing, then yeah teenagers wouldn’t be allowed, because they’d be unvaccinated and therefore endangering others.

the expectation is that 12-16 will be approved shortly and 2-11 by September. As I have said repeatedly, we can't assume that everything is going to be frozen (the state of matter, not the closed musical) for the next 4 months. Look back 4 months and realize how much can change in that amount of time.

I don't want to put words in your mouth so let me know if you are saying that you believe that you need to show proof you have been vaccinated to see Broadway show. If we follow the science, the vaccines are 90-95% effective. Teenagers are less likely to catch/spread the virus than most age groups. The article about Broadway re-opening said masks will be mandatory and air systems in theaters have been improved. Since Broadway audiences tend to be older, I would think whether vaccination is requirement or not most of the audience would be vaccinated. There is risk in everything we do in life but I think teenagers attending a show would not be that risky. My entire family has been vaccinated.

"Correct. Thanks, guys "
Lol, the strong minded woman needs help/support from the "guys" on BWW. From the way I phrased my statement, I knew full well that 16 year old kids can get vaccine and it is matter of time for those younger to possibly get one. I just wanted to see your answer to young people not being able to attend show without vaccine because they could not get it yet and not their fault. It is becoming a scary country when government can basically force you to put something in your body otherwise you will be punished. I get it is for "public safety" but does anybody really know if the vaccines might have effect long term on people's health, answer is no. I would recommend getting vaccine, especially elderly people but I can understand some people's reluctance.

I am confused by your post. You seem to have concern about the vaccine, especially among younger people and "effect long term". However, you recommend the vaccine for elderly people. Are these 50 year old elderly people, 60 year old, 70 year old, 80 year old? These age groups can also live long years. Wouldn't the concern be the same if you truly believed there was a concern?

Posted: 5/7/21 at 8:44amThe Gershwin Theatre/Wicked’s Ticketmaster pages have been listing about a month’s worth of shows beginning in September for a long time (but not selling tickets). Those have been scrubbed this morning, so I’m imagining they’re getting ready for a larger on-sale soon.

Chicago just put tickets on sale for performances starting September 14. I also noticed Jagged Little Pill on telecharge has tickets on sale for performances starting on October 21.
Edited to add that Ain't Too Proud has started selling tickets as well, with an October 16 start date!

Just purchased my ticket to Phantom for its first Thursday matinee on 10/28!
Looks like they're doing a Thursday matinee on the first full week back but normally will do RFSSM nights (occasionally swapping M for W) and Saturday matinees for a six-show week.

So that means they won't have been vaccinated by then because it's the agenda of all theaters to keep younger people from enjoying theater.
Are you kidding? They have changed the age guidelines recently, so 18< will be coming shortly. Calm down. No ones ageist or saying they won't be able to go. It's called patience.

not being allowed to attend theater or take advantage of other life privileges because of a vaccine rule, is not the same as “being punished”. And a majority of countries around the world are going to have similar restrictions in place for any tourists, so it appears most governments in the world are becoming scary? (Facetious, because probably true well before the pandemic happened!)

I think this comment is a microcosm of the reaction people are having overall. There are too many shows opening too quickly, and too few shows likely to generate enthusiasm for re-entering a crowded theatre. Don't get me wrong. I am super-excited by the return of live theatre and can't wait to sit in a theatre seat. And I know that is true for many here. But put yourself in the general market of likely potential attendees (i.e., casual/occasional theatregoers, look at what's announced, and ask how motivated you would be especially if you are a fence-sitter on the return to crowded places. I hope I am wrong but I think it's going to be a bumpy ride. And I am not yet convinced that Chicago will actually open on the basis it has announced.

Posted: 5/7/21 at 9:56amWell I think a lack of interest in “Chicago” (save for a big star joining) is expected and will be offset by the many tourists who will be back in town late Summer/Fall, which is pretty much the norm for that show.
