She's not booking a low tier/pay equity tour. They'll likely get a Broadway vet to play the role.
"
Umm...you mean a Broadway vet like, oh I don't know...Christine Ebersole??
"
Ebersole's also a TV & Movie name. Thinking someone like Simard in the role is more likely.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Yeah, I think Ebersole would be a big stretch for this tour to get. Also, age-wise Patti worked well with Katrina but Britney reads far younger and more age appropriate to the 35 yr old role so I think the Joanne will end up being a bit younger.
speaking of Patti...last night I read that she would be doing a one woman show on june 15 at the Westport Country Playhouse...I went right to tickets on the sight and it was SOLD OUT grrrrr!

FWIW...She's also appearing in Poughkeepsie, NY on June 17th. Can't tell if she is doing her "Don't Monkey with Broadway" show then, though
Do we know where this will be touring? Because I agree that some of these actresses are not going to be schlepping through Wisconsin or Florida, but if the tour is doing a month or so through California, I can see Vanessa Williams or another LA-based Name taking a swing here.
Given they went with an understudy for the lead I’m not sure we should be expecting any huge names. It didn’t recoup on Broadway so they are likely hoping to produce this cheap and make some coin on the road. But hey could be wrong.

How often do bigger names do a stint for a tour stop? I'm seriously asking and not being sarcastic in the slightest. When was the last time this happened? Or is it just a dream :)
There's been celebrities that joined the Chicago tour when it would play Los Angeles or San Francisco.

Not really "big names" but Andrea Martin and Matthew James Thomas did the most recent PIPPIN tour in LA, I think. Idina Menzel did a few stops for the IF/THEN tour as well.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I would think the rehearsals commencing would align with Britney’s final performance in the Beetlejuice tour which she posted will be August 20th. I would sadly not expect to hear much before then, maybe even after then, as many times casting announcements align with the start of rehearsals. However, I did hear a rumor of Mary Testa being cast as Joanne which would be incredibly exciting, if true! 😁
I know tickets went on sale for the Detroit dates but others go on sale later...feels like time for a cast update? Company doesn't really work as a one-woman show...
I'm incredibly psyched that in Philadelphia, the tour is playing the Forrest Theater rather than Academy of Music. As a teen,I saw the original tour here and was immediately sold on all things Sondheim.

Why do you consider that wish weird.? Just asking."
Answering for myself, not him, but she's the Annie actress: upbeat belter. Joanne is sour (I don't mean that as a put-down). So it is odd. Like saying you'd have liked to have see little Shirley Temple in a production of The Bad Seed.
Personally, I just think the woman can't act. At all. So I think she'd stink as Joanne onstage. But she could clearly sing the hell out of that part, were some all-star recording released.
Here in Detroit tickets are going for $145 in the orchestra for this. Comparatively I caught the Lion King and Beetlejuice for under $70 (58 and 68 respectively)
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Just as I suspected, the Fisher Theatre is owned by the Ambassador Theater Group, which also runs the touring houses in San Francisco (and is acquiring a number of theaters on Broadway).
This sounds like standard practice for them. They try to charge whatever they think the market will bear, and reduce prices later if they overestimated demand.
They tried to charge a lot for the Into The Woods tour stop, another well-regarded Sondheim revival, in San Francisco, and made a fair amount on premium seats. I am sure they will do the same for Company.
ATG will have an advantage with Company because it’s part of the season subscription package. I guess I may have to plan on seeing this show on a weeknight. In San Francisco, I am guessing ATG will try to charge about $300 or more for good orchestra seats on a weekend. But they won’t fill the large Orpheum in the mezzanine and balcony.
