Cabaret was, weirdly enough the show that saved me. It was a one month summer stock production in Alabama that was based on this, the mendes production and the original production. That summer might’ve been the greatest summer of my life. When the show closed in August I was a wreck, sobbed for two weeks after my last time seeing it.
It wasn’t the names, the sets, awards or anything like that. It was the chance to see the show that got me through it again in some way that made me wanna see it.
It brought more than that, it brought me friends, experiences that I couldn’t have had if it wasn’t for my sheer curiosity and love I have towards this show. It also brought me a stage used pineapple that was going bad, and I ate the **** out of that pineapple.
I used this show as an escape, as the people in the show did for the Kit Kat Club. It’s a form of escapism. It’s a form of love in some scopes, Like I’d have for a family member or a partner. It’s a show that I’ve seen 18 times and will continue to grow until I’m no able to sit in a ****ing theatre.
Thats why I hate that it’s going like this. No big boom, no rise in sales to give it another shot. Just a flame dying on a ****show that should’ve been handled way better than how it happened.
This production has given me the happiest 4 hours in the theatre since the first time I saw Pierre Marais in that trench coat at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and I’m truly devastated that I won’t be able to see it again.
And I apologize to the show for ending on a lackluster lead. You don’t deserve Billie Porter, Kit Kat Club. You deserved so much better that what we gave you.

There is a tenant lined up for the Spring, thus why they are closing in October and not January.
It is faster to tear this kind of stuff down then to build it up

Evidently. Crying for two weeks over a summer stock production, then seeing that musical eighteen times in two years is…something.
Everyone’s being too precious about this production. From the beginning, it was gimmick over substance and no realistic casting would have elevated it to the heights needed to be a hit here. It was always going to be better received across the pond, as some suspected before a transfer was even announced. Or as some did after the opening cast announcement. Or when they sent out the replacements.
The final four months of this production will be as successful as expected prior to this announcement (which isn’t much, so I’m not sure why anyone expected some terrific send off). You're going to need to cast worse than Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner Billy Porter to make this crash & burn…more than it (arguably) already has.
As if Porter is the Grim Reaper of Broadway because you didn’t like his Amazon Prime Cinderella or Encore’s ‘The Life’, please.
They're 16. Cut them some slack.
I'm looking through dates to see Orville again (and Eva hopefully the first time) and notice a lot of single table seats, is ATG enforcing the "tables must be purchased in pairs" rule? Don't get why it doesn't just auto-select both. Will they be cancelling single table ticket holders?

The word of mouth that went about Adam and Auli’i wasan absolute godsend, bringing tons of people to the show who wouldn’t have seen the show before. Plus, those two were one of the best emcee and sally pairingsI’ve ever seen.
Orville peck is Orville peck, the man is too sexy I cannot say anything else for my own good without ending up on at least three government watchlists. Eva is a deep and passionate sally, Sally isn’t a “singer” but Eva sure can make you believe.
Ending with Billie porter is just letting this show crash and die. I mean, I’d rather see a plank of wood play the emcee. There could have been one last big stuntcast to make *SOME* money back, but we’re start seeing half empty houses with these two. I love Marisha, she a damn menace as sally but I cannot see this selling at all.
Gerard way and Billie Joe were right there. That would’ve made money.
i hate this is the end for the show. A slow and decrepit death. It had its problems, but i loved this show, but this.
this is just ****ing sad."
You are 100% right! Closing with Billy and the other girl who I don't know is a big disappointment and I doubt this will last for the remaining scheduled run and close earlier. They should have just closed with Orville and Eva and market as last 4 weeks with them! They needed a better casting director with fresh ideas such as the team over at Hadestown as they know what they're doing and continue to cast with interesting ideas. I'm surprised that the show didn't do better wth Orville and Eva because they are AMAZING and gave the show a much needed lift and both received widespread praise from critics and audiences so what happened ... Is it marketing or what?
Her name is Marisha Wallace, very easy to learn. And it seems like you don't know very much at all.

I know Wallace started her career on Broadway, bounced over to the UK, got famous for something, but i honestly don't know what for.
I said marisha was a powerhouse as Sally and would love for her to close the show with someone else besides Billie. You’re putting words in my mouth.
If you could kindly shut the **** up and let me mourn this show I’m frankly too obsessed over that would be amazing.
seriously though people see beetlejuice and heathers 130 times and it’s okay but I see one musical about nazis and feel something there and it’s an issue.
What the frick dawg

The films that the musicals are based upon: OK
The musicals based upon the films: NOT OK... but works as a red flag warning that the person has bad taste & may in fact be mentally unstable
Cabaret 130 times... you're OK.
Now if only it were possible to see 70 Girls 70 seventy times.
Or Dear World twice.
Or Mame once.

I think she started to become a well known name in the West End after originating Adelaide in the recent immersive guys and dolls production. But she always has been well received by regular theatre goers starting with Dreamgirls, and had well received supporting parts in shows such as the Daniel Fish Oklahoma (ado) and Hairspray (motormouth). I suppose she can much easier differentiate herself in the west end because in general the quality of broadway musical performers are higher than west end. I’m happy that she can ‘return home at last’.
But almost no one in New York knows who she is - there is 0 chance she could do Sally on Broadway without Billy so if people can not find something redeeming in his performance (which surprises me - and yes it’s Billy doing Billy but I see that as a good thing the same way I would say Patti doing Patti or Bernadette doing Bernadette is a good thing) at least they can be a bit thankful he is helping provide this opportunity for Marisha!

I have a car, tattoos, and a job.
I think if I’m able to drive, work, and get silly little pictures put on my body I’m able to be on a message board.
I just got overwhelmed and overly emotional over it and typed a really long and dumb message. Damn my autism.
I’m not a toddler in need of parental guidance on the internet, I think I’ll be okay.

I absolutely love your passion and I’m so happy to hear the show had such a profound impact on you. Who cares what anyone else thinks?
I saw this back in previews with Eddie Redmayne and really loved it for the most part, but I never felt any need to go back. None of the replacement casts enticed me enough to make a return visit.
It’s worth it for Orville.

I went and got a tattoo yesterday and the artist had a framed picture of oreville pecks nude shoot on the wall.
it was the best tattoo session ever
Made a return visit to the Kit Kat Club last night, and:
Orville: He is good. Less clown, more menace. Something about “Money” didn’t land for me.
Eva: Sang her face off, and her Sally is quite petulant, coming across very much like a little girl. It works. Liked her more than Gayle Rankin, but Jessie Buckley is still the standard, for me.
Ellen Harvey: My goodness, what a terrific performance! She actually stole the show for me, and she got the loudest applause from the audience. There were two people behind me audibly sobbing during her final scenes. Just remarkable.
Ultimately, the piece is still the star here. This is probably the greatest musical, or my favorite, at the very least. I loved this production when it first opened in London a few years back, but something about the New York production feels like a puzzle piece that just doesn’t quite snap into place. Even with Eddie opening the show when it transferred to the states, something was off.
How is Orville's attendance?

Thanks for answering the question. Since she was on Big Brother Celebrity UK, I assumed she was a celebrity over there. But she only has stage credits.
After seeing Orville and Eva's understudy Gabi Campo a couple of weeks ago, I booked tickets for tonight.
Eva called out again. Decided to cancel and look to rebook another night, and hopefully third time will be the charm.
Saw this a few weeks ago after having seen it in London with Maude Apatow & Mason Alexander Park. I liked it but with Orville & Eva I finally saw the brilliance of the production. Orville in particular blew me away.

From anyone who's seen it, is there any explicit drug/needle use in this production? I vaguely remember some in the Alan Cumming one.
