Eva & Orville were both out again for today's matinee.

A little while later, I saw there was another email and became concerned, but it was just about transit suspensions due to the NJ Transit workers' strike."
What did you think of Gabi as Sally? Especially compared to any other Sally's you've seen?

Can't speak to Eva, but Orville had May 16-17 as scheduled absences. It was on the website and ticketing sites. June 5, 27, and 28 are, as of now, his other known dates he will be out.
Hasn't Eva gone from one show (Gatsby) to the next (West End Hadestown) to the next (Cabaret) with very short/no breaks in between. That's a fairly rigorous schedule, and I can't imagine playing Sally even a little under the weather or without a full voice.

I guess he was resting his voice as he has a gig tonight in BK at Baby's All Right 10PM

I thought Gabbi was great, a very technically proficient performance but not quite with the x-factor differentiation across vocals/acting or presence I would like in a lead of this kind of show if she were full-time.
Did the ATG takeover from Seat Geek just happen? Or is it just because my performance is tomorrow did I get an email saying, "Your performance of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club is now being ticketed by the August Wilson Theatre Official Online Box Office, powered by ATG Tickets US...."

I remember quite a bit of discussion about it several weeks ago in the Sunset thread as pricing changed dramatically.

Oh that must be what it was. I bought a ticket last week for a Friday in late June and just today I got an email saying the same thing as yours with my ticket for next month. I purchased it on Seat Geek

I wasn’t at your performance, but I’m about 90% sure you heard Orville himself let out a little giggle. It’s an acting choice he makes at the top of the hand salute on “Arise, arise”and it’s a chilling one, but I could see how you could mistake it for an audience member if you couldn’t actually see his face."
Wow, that's so interesting if that's what he does, because it was NOT clear at all from my side of the audience. There were definitely a lot of confused people around me, and coupled with the weird sounds coming from the other side of the audience earlier, I definitely thought that same person was at it again!

I agree with binau's comments on Gabi. If she were playing it full-time, perhaps she'd develop more of an edge, but I feel like she came across as somewhat more likeable and less complicated than most Sallys I've seen, which is not necessarily a good thing. In the prior Broadway production, I saw Michelle, Emma, and Sienna. In its current iteration, I saw Auli'i on Broadway and Rebecca Lucy Taylor (AKA "Self Esteem") in the West End, the latter of whom was sensational. I thought Gabi had a wonderful voice, but was just looking for an extra little oomph in her performance.
Just got my email notice that Eva won't be Sally tonight. I love her but don't want to bother trying to rebook, as long as Orville is there.

Eva not in today! Was she out a lot as well in Gatsby?

Anyone else remember that nodes rumor circling Eva back prepandemic in Hadestown? I definitely remember reading about it on this sub...

Saw Gabi Tuesday evening, and I thought she was mostly pretty great. Towards the end you didn't quite get the anger and desperation that I think most Sallys are directed into portraying, so the title number doesn't quite land as convincingly angry as other have been directed. That said, she was quite winning and lovable, so you could actually believe Cliff falling in love with her, as opposed to being so grating that can't believe a moment of their connection.
Orville Peck is just...wow. The vocals, the magnetism, the physicality. He can do it all, and I just wanted to listen to him sing the whole score. (Can he do an EP a la Betty when she did Sunset?) And for the big line that gave Adam Lambert so much trouble? When Orville did it, you could hear a pin drop, the chill was palpable.

This! ^^^ 100%
Jessie J said today she was offered this show on Broadway but had to turn it down. I think she could have been great, so here’s hoping she’s eventually able to do it.

The way her career has been going I think she's insane to have turned it down. This sounds mean, but what could she possibly have going on that would be a bigger opportunity?

Have no idea who she is. Nor would most of the theatre goers. They need a BIG BIG name to keep this going. And like real soon.

Well the purpose of casting her would have been to appeal to NON theatre goers.
A Broadway run is a huge commitment, and if you’re being asked to be the fourth or fifth replacement in a production that isn’t exactly a smash hit, I can’t exactly fault Jessie J or whomever for turning it down.

I’d argue that a lot of people (especially those under 40) know who Jessie J. is, though. She’s a powerhouse vocalist and very much NOT a Broadway name, so there would be new interest.
