^ Exactly. And everyone knows who she is. I'm glad she placed importance on her young child.
Anyway, unless they get names that people really want to see this sad revival will close by.... Labor Day?
I've been hearing everything from "they're closing after Orville and Eva leave" to "they have celebrities lined up into next summer."
I'm more inclined to believe it's somewhere closer to the former based on the box office since Redmayne left.

I'm not sure if this would even be an option but could they do away with the pre-show and cut the budget somewhat or would that become a whole union issue?

I'm not super sure how it would work- I can't think of a precedent of a production downsizing its cast like that. But a move like that is more for long-term savings; in the short term, any cost savings are offset by having to pay out the affected performers in accordance to their contract terms.

The way her career has been going I think she's insane to have turned it down. This sounds mean, but what could she possibly have going on that would be a bigger opportunity?"
Her young son."
What a cop out.
"
Maybe she should have thought through this before she even entertained the idea/auditioned.

...She didn't take the role, so clearly she thought it through.

Eva is now out on indefinite vocal rest per her insta story
She's been working nonstop for years, and this year alone it seems she took absolutely no breaks between jobs. It's completely understandable considering she gives everything as Sally. I hope she takes a long, extended break after July.
This is why I thought it'd be insane before she was actually announced for this going from Gatsby to Hadestown in the UK to this with no time between them. I'm sure she's a workhorse, but is not a small work load.

Gabi Campo will probably be Sally all week as Paige Smallwood is on vacation.
Eva is out again tonight.
Yes, she is on vocal rest this week.

Me thinks something might be coming from across the pond.

Last night had several understudies.
Is it true Billy and Marisha are coming over from the west end? They just finished there .
Marisha was fantastic. Billy was….Marisha was fantastic.

Jordan, regarding Billy..... you forgot to stare , in silence, for fifteen seconds. Then turn to the window and sigh, “What a beautiful day.”
Marisha should come over and do it. Billy has mixed reviews but would probably sell some tickets.
Ms Wallace is a known entity in London theatre. But would she make a difference in New York?
I think this production is dead in the water without an American celebrity.
An American celebrity people like.

I feel like most of the time they're just pulling rabbits out of hats hoping to get one that sticks.
Most of the casting we have now for the show mostly caters to younger people that are obsessed with celebrities, but pulling people like Adam Lambert and Orville Peck to cater to different audiences is what they need to do.
It's not just an 'American celebrity' we need, we need variety.
Give me Weird Al, give me Gerard Way, give me Aurelio Voltaire, those names would pull me into the show and a lot of others. I don't want pop celebrities like gaga or Sabrina Carpenter filling in so the producers can line their pockets. Give me the weird and unusual that would interest me in actually seeing a show not just for a celebrity. That's what this show needs, variety and interest in what it could be.
Unfortunately, the production seems to have taken the risky tactic of making the stars the selling point and not the production itself. This really isn't something that is sustainable. But it's sort of a catch-22- this is an expensive production and if they ever hope to recoup, they need to be moving a lot of high priced tickets and celebrity names are basically the only thing they can rely on for that.
How was Billy's attendance in London? I could imagine them bringing him in for his name recognition and Marisha Wallace for her talent. They could also work the publicity angle that Wallace herself has been selling for years -- a triumphant return to Broadway, where she never felt appreciated, after becoming a West End star.
I don't think Wallace will move tickets any more than Cravalho or Noblezada have.
And I also genuinely don't know how much of a draw Porter is for ticketbuyers, simply because we really have so little data about that- he broke through to the mainstream in Pose, but his last appearance in a full production in NY was before that in Shuffle Along.
