It was always going to be an uphill battle. Even with Chenoweth and a promising creative team, Queen of Versailles has little commercial appeal same as Tammy Faye.

I said in my post that I didnt know one way or the other but wanted to know

Agree. Chen isn't helping right now. She needs to put a cork in it.
Waking up today I’m seeing a lot of online videos (probably from folks who were never going to the show anyways) saying how they’ll never see QOV now. Who knows if this whole thing will hurt the show but it certainly won’t help it. And for a show who saw the most excitement online when they announced the standby, it ain’t good.

Makes me even more determined to see Sherie Rene Scott. That is if the show makes it to her performances.
Oh, boy. Took a peak at both Chenoweth’s and QOV’s Instagrams and on both their most recent posts the comments are across the board negative to her and the show. The show’s first preview is a few weeks away. Let’s see how this unfolds. I’m sure many involved with the show are beyond stressing as even with a public apology, they can’t rise above it. You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.

True! regardless this showing is not selling compared to the other musicals this fall Chess & Ragtime. No buzz or interest at all. Producers must be concerned! We will see in 3 1/2 weeks! I bet a lot of papering will be happening.

Just looked at the first month of sales. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the balcony is not available for sale. Right now there are plenty of tickets available for all performances, and the third Friday of previews has sold about 100 tickets.
And there’s no telling how many of those greyed out seats are production holds.
Prepare a space on the Wall of Costly Mistakes!
Wasn’t this the same reaction to Maybe Happy Ending? No buzz, no interest, no sales. If anything, they were worse off because they were on the verge of not even making it to previews. I’m sure Michael Arden is calm because he’s been here before

The curious thing is that they’ve already denied themselves potential sales by closing off the balcony. Which at a guess is like, what, 1/8 of the potential gross? Anyone who would usually buy tickets in the $60 to $80 range won’t just gladly move to the next price band in the mezz.

This could be fantastic when it comes to ny. We don’t actually know what it’s going to be given the work that’s been done in the interim. Could take off if word of mouth is good
So is cancelling Chenoweth and QOV yet another wonderful thing about the culture? Sheesh. These times are truly getting so relentlessly boring. Remember when Ebersole was a 9/11 truther registered Republican and yet everyone still managed to enjoy Grey Gardens? What happened to those days?

Before social media a lot of people weren't as aware of stuff like that.

Outsider looking in. This show just feels doomed. I certainly do not want to spend Broadway money seeing a show about someone trying to build a mansion (real talk, haven’t watched the source doc and have no interest) while the White House is getting the gawdy treatment and we’re getting excess thrown in our faces while most people are being asked to pay more and having to make sacrifices to keep a budget.
Maybe there is heart in this show somewhere. But I feel like in a few years I’ll be watching a documentary about massive financial flops in the 2020’s and it will include Lempicka, Tammy Faye, and QoV.
Perhaps it’s my algorithm, but I’m also seeing more excitement for the standby like Autumn got for Tammy.
This also feels like such a weird choice for Michael Arden after coming off MHE
I don’t spend a lot of time in the city so I won’t prioritize this, but if the stars aligned, I’d very much hope to see Sherie Rene Scott. And I thought that prior to Chenoweth’s comments.
That’s not true at all. I saw her at the Nj pac last year where she first sang the I want song from QoV with Stephen Schwartz at the piano. I got a cheap ticket from TDF and there were plenty of seats. So no, I don’t think Chenoweth is a bigger star than Darren Criss and his show was on the brink of being cancelled because of no sales

Are people calling on her to be fired, or are they simply asking for clarification and choosing not to spend their hard-earned money somewhere they don't want for any reasons they like?
Unlike conservatives who, as always, are the main perpetrators of so-called "cancel culture" and are
actively trying
to get people fired
for accurately describing Kirk's work and words
(because accurately describing his beliefs and deeds is supposedly "celebrating" his death).
(Also, as usual, you blaming "the left" for something more common to "the right".)
Oh, wow. You mean after creating cancel culture 'the left' are now SHOCKED that their own weapon is being used again them when they lose power and control? SHOCKING. I never predicted and warned you all about this lol. Unfortunately, after all the glorification of political violence I'm sorry to say but you know what's coming too. Toxicity breads toxicity.
Maybe liberal principles such as free speech are worth defending after all.

That was before Miss Lindsey, Miss Mitch and DUMP changed the game.
