It doesn't seem so. The show publicized the visits of others from the film soon after they happened--Goldie, Isabella Rossellini, Robert Zemeckis, Alan Silvestri--but no word on a Meryl visit, which naturally would be big news.
It's possible she caught the show and asked the show to keep it off social media, but I'd say that's less likely than she simply hasn't seen it. She did send Megan Hilty flowers on opening night, though!
I've also gotten the sense that this is not a film Ms. Streep particularly enjoyed making, so she may or may not be interested in seeing a stage version. Either way she hasn't commented on it publicly, so...shrug?
Death Becomes Her: code SAVE25 (25% off) performances 9/23-10/9 and 10/21-11/5
There hasn’t been any notice/announcement from what I can see, but do we think there are vacations happening during these two week chunks? Or just general sale? I was surprised, considering this should be just before Jennifer & Megan’s contracts are up.
Caught the show for my 3rd time last night 9/24 evening --- all of the principles were in and were on *fire*. How Megan and Jennifer do what they do is like a magic act --- every song / comedy bit / banter between them just seemed effortless, which we all know is *very* much not the case, they're superstars. Sieber remains a total genius (as usual, IMO.) and Michelle Williams was in fantastic voice and felt a bit more relaxed / played the Faustian-temptress element better than I've previously felt about her performance. And every member of that ensemble!! Just perfection and the spirit and energy they projected from the first moments was palpable and wonderful.
The audience was in the palm of their hands from the opening number and was having a blast but also totally respectful (no phones, etc) and during intermission everyone was raving (including some new friends I made who'd never seen the movie.)
If you haven't gone or want to revisit the 25% code is a very good deal / it's often at TKTS, and beyond the announced dates, the leads will more than likely be there. I don't necessarily know how this show recoups - you can see the money onstage - but I hope it has a long, wonderful run. Hours of joy when we really need it (I mean, when don't we need joy? :-)
I am glad to hear all that, JT2030! And yes, we need more joy these days and this show hits the spot!
