Interesting –– guessing that means about $8 mil went to the production, with perhaps $4 mil of that going to the investors. So there's still about $12 million to recoup...which is still more expensive than a lot of original musicals. (It's a $17 mil musical)

Omg!! Give it a break now!! All these bashing before it's even opened is really lame!!! Most of the people liked it back in March 20, so please get a life and wait till people who actually saw it live post their reviews here."
Lightning Thief was a limited engagement. It was still a big flop, but it was always set as a limited run. A more apt comparison for DIANA might be Escape From Margaritaville, Head Over Heels, Tootsie, Groundhog Day, Be More Chill, Dr. Zhivago, West Side Story 2020, The Cher Show, Gettin' the Band Back Together, etc.
Any commentary or "bashing" on DIANA's quality is fair game. The show was filmed and released. Critics and would-be ticketbuyers have watched it on Netflix. More people saw it on Netflix than will ever see it on Broadway. It's a most unusual situation. No sane person involved with this show will be expecting good reviews.
Because of Netflix, DIANA will go down as one of the most visible flops (a flop in terms of both quality and finances) in the history of Broadway.
It's kinda funny what kind of people are around here!
They are only happy if they could bash here and make shows look as bad as possible, - even if these aren't even re-opened, and they don't even know what they changed and how it's live now. They must be frustrated wanna-be critics, who think they know EVERYTHING.
But in fact they know NOTHING! It's countless how often they predicted "flops" and "short runs" of shows receiving awards and running for years.
They are talking about "sources" they don't even know they're existing or not. It's hilarious how many fake news are around here, and people feel kinda "smart" sharing things they don't even have a clue about if these are confirmed, true, or false
If you guys would be REALLY interested in facts, you would write differently, bec you would have found out some of them. But you aren't anyways!
Instead if this, you make people "scared" to write their honest opinion (like someone else stated)
This is so lame and you don't even realize it! It's always the same - not only with this show!
Diana isn't perfect-no question about this - but iits insanely stupid, prejudiced wnd small-minded to call a show being dead, not even being in its previews .
Actually this is one of the shows you hate, or you love, and there are many people out there who love it and also some media think, that it will have it's fans and that it might become some kind of cult probably
Future will tell anyways, so...what's the reason, why you have to act like this in advance? Sad lives? Frustration, bec you are NOT a famous critic in a cheap tabloid? Or just being hateful, bec you don't want shows being successful you don't like?

Oh dear god --- no, MOST people are not only interested in negativity. You like the show - terrific, tell us WHY. But hose who do not have just as much right to voice their opinion.
Any talk of a show's closing is certainly a guess. It's going to do what it's going to do - and the neg or pos opinions here have VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH IT.
I can never understand why anyone gets so upset with others having a negative opinion on any show. But if you can't do anything but yell at those that think differently than do you, you need to look inward.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

All of this may very well prove true in the future. The unabashed glee you seem to enjoy by criticizing the show and seemingly willing the show to fail, any show, especially in the coming months as the Broadway community gathers together to rebuild this industry, is just in poor taste to me.

....voicing an opinion on a show that actually isn't running yet! ... WOW!!! How construcitive and mature!! Why not bashing a show that isn't even written?
You guys are like these cheap tabloids who published their negativ reviews already, when the filmed version wasn't even released on Netflix.
Fact is that you are NOT interested in building up a constructive and neutral opinion anyways. You just WANT to hate it and so you spread your hatred whenever possible,- no matter if you know the current version or not. This is insane!
Showhopper2, this is a place for discussion, not a place for Your Views Only. There's plenty of discourse here about every show because it is a discussion board, where people discuss their opinions on things, which are wildly varied from show to show. If you do not like reading opinions that differ from yours, you can click the little X on your browser tab. You could also find and join a fan group for the show on Facebook (I haven't looked for one, but one likely exists by now, and if it doesn't, you could create one to find other like-minded individuals). I disagree with some things said here, too, both in this thread and in other threads about shows I like/don't like, but people saying things you don't like is part-and-parcel to joining a discussion board.
You're going to give yourself a coronary being so angry and stressed about other people's opinions.

It is literally filmed and available for anyone to watch on Netflix. There is no reason to believe what will begin performances this week will be vastly different (why would it be, if they already chose to preserve it both on film and on a cast recording?) Your sole purpose on this board seems to be boost the show and bash anyone who is skeptical of its ability to be successful. And there is a LOT to be skeptical of in that regard. You're the one who's being immature.
"Reviews have been mostly positive" ...where, exactly? And how did you figure that? Eyeballing social media, a year and a half ago based on about a week of performances?
Also, worth noting that a substantial number of its positive reviews on Show Score appear to be fake.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
No one has a vendetta out for this show. Remember, THEY filmed and released the show to Netflix - THEY opened the can of worms, it's fair game.
Why would someone WANT a neutral opinion? And constructive? Is the producing company looking to CHANGE anything - we get to talk about what we did AND didn't like about the show.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Oh, there's no glee in it at all –– simply looking at things through the perspective of reality. Discussion of failures certainly isn't in "poor taste": Broadway is a billion-dollar industry in which 75% of shows fail financially, and we know a lot more about this show going into its first preview than we do about most others. If anything, it's discussed out of anguish that so much money and time is being wasted on this show when it could be put towards other shows. But of course we have no control over that.
Anybody has the right to criticize anything. However, it comes across as a criticization to those of us who are spending OUR OWN MONEY and MAKING OUR OWN DECISION to see this. I'm waiting for the "nah, nah, nah, nah ,nah. I told you so " responses.

haha.. yeah.. sure! You guys are just unbelievable... For sure eveything is fake what you don't like. How could someone forget this?!
This level is getting too low! You are living in your own reality anyways!

Out of 103 reviews, about 30 very positive reviews- enough to swing the total score substantially- were by users with repetitive or nonsense names, no prior reviews, and mashed random characters to hit the required character count instead of any coherent thought. It’s not exactly going out on a limb to think they’re suspect. (And frankly, based on your behavior and typing style, it’s not going out on a limb to think you’re maybe the one behind it, either).

Ummmmmmm…….DIANA does not need Broadwayworld members to “make it look as bad as possible.” DIANA does a fantastic job of looking as bad as possible all on its own.
I looked at the first week of previews on Telecharge earlier today and I'd be shocked if there was 50% of the theatre sold. You'd think with all the "free publicity" the Netflix movie might've given the show, there would be at least a little more interest. As it is, it'll be a case of that Chris Rock calls, "Grand opening, grand closing."
