I don’t see Julia at all doing this role. Hopefully she’s up to the task. Such an excellent show

Has Dreyfus done professional theater before? I know she did improv back in early 80's but she such a TV actress, interesting to see how well she fares on stage.

This isn’t a Rudin production.
ATG, Bad Robot, and Gavin Kalin are the lead producers.

According to Google JLD is playing Polly, the matriarch.

It's been over a decade since I thought about this play and I barely remember the script, but this cast is fascinating. I'll be buying my tickets ASAP and they'll be my first purchase of the new season, so hats off to the producers.

If a revival of Other Desert Cities is happening, there have to be wheels in motion for one for August....right?

Yes, it has been actively presented to producers at least twice with David Cromer directing and Deirdre O’Connell and Carrie Coon as Violet and Barbara. Here’s an article about it from 2023.

Love them both, but we're gonna need some star power if this is ever going to work and Bug wasn't exactly a runway financial smash for MTC.

Somehow I find it quite simple to not buy tickets for this. I didn't need any special password or to log on to any specific site. I just kept my wallet shut... and I think plenty of other tourists might do the same.

Wish Joe Keery would have shown off his talents in a musical instead of this.

AOC requires a lot of cast, and the original staging incorporated a multi-level house. The set could be downsized but that cast is quite large. No way those two names, as talented as they are, will be opening a commercial production of that play. They would need a big name for Violet, at least. I say give it to Metcalf. She can do anything. Not a name, per se, so Barb would need to be star casting.
In terms of ODC, I say hell yes. I really enjoyed the original production, and thought that several of the cast changes were right in step with the originals. Channing was wonderful and Light was every bit her equal. These are juicy roles, and I am thrilled that producers were finally able to entice JLD with a Broadway contract. She, like Metcalf, can do absolutely anything — including sing, apropos or not to this piece.

Pretty seamless process and the ticket page is very manageable. Purchased four tickets for 230 each after fees orchestra left aisle just before opening. it appears that prices range from 110 to just under 600.

Prices varied wildly on this. Same seat was $50 cheaper Weds at 1P than Weds at 7P. And that same ticket was $100 more on the weekend.
