He said he’d be back after he did The Wrong Man. I think he’s going back to his standby position though. He was just in rehearsal the other day at the theatre according to Jimmie Jeter’s insta story
A new Laurens/Phillip, Daniel Yearwood, begins tomorrow. I know we’ll see a new Hamilton in 2020, but I’ve heard a new King George and Peggy/Mariah as well (I’ve been told Elizabeth is not going to be in the role long term). Don’t know about others. It’s been over 3 years for Mandy Gonzalez, 2 for Daniel Breaker, almost 3 for James Monroe Iglehart, 2.5 for Euan Morton. Golden handcuffs are tough...it’s a plush gig with huge security, but is the security keeping you stagnant?
As the show approaches 5 years of performances (!), the variances in performances has been extreme, but the most unique seem to have not originated on broadway. The show is still great, but does it need some new energy? It’s already out there in the touring companies and sit down engagements. The Chicago company closes in less then 4 weeks and they’ve been consistently great the past 1.5-2 years. Bring some of them in!
I am see this in 2 weeks, having only seen it once in Chicago. What should I expect?
Also after looking at this thread a bit I realized that it is playing in LA when I plan to be there next spring so just bought a ticket. I could get an orchestra seat for less than I paid for balcony in NY, and about the same as mezzanine in Chicago. Will be an interesting weekend: Sunday in the Park, Hamilton, Peleas & Melisande. Also hoping Lempicka will be on in La Jolla during that time.
I saw this article mentioned on "the other" board: https://www.vulture.com/2019/12/re-reviewing-the-book-of-mormon-and-hamilton-in-2019.html#_ga=2.207309971.1487135332.1576089308-743922714.1575550022
Curious about what people think regarding the oarts about Hamilton? I saw it in Chicago in September & thought the cast there was very very good, & that the comments about how the show was written for specific voices, suggesting replacements don't live up to the originals, not at all applicable to the cast I saw. I'm seeing the NY production next week, and it will be interesting how it compares.
He is back until January 19th. I’m guessing that Tamar Greene (the Chicago Washington) will take over after that since the Chicago company will have closed a few weeks before. It seems to me that there are a few interim principals. (Jimmie Jeter as Hamilton, BTC as Washington, and Elizabeth Judd as Peggy/Maria). I’m guessing that there will be a lot of Chicago cast members coming to broadway at that point.
The touring cast was very disappointing, obviously nothing can top the OBC, and I realize the show is the star, but they shouldn't have meh actors in any of their productions, tickets are too expensive to see only slightly above average.

I saw the Angelica Tour last year and thought the quality was better than when I saw it on Broadway in 2017. Julia Harriman, Sabrina Sloan, Chris Lee, Matthew Peter Smith, Carvens Lissaint, and Edred Utomi were top notch.
Jennie Harney is only a Broadway standby now. West End is different in broadway where that 99% of actors sign on for a year. So when they sign a contract, they sign in for that whole season. She did the first two years and now her standby (Sharon Rose) has taken over the role. The cool thing to me about the west end is that all of the new cast members for that year start on the same day.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

The Angelica cast. The under, under study went on for Hamilton went on (he was a kid) and the understudy for Eliza went on as well. Weak. I took my Mother last year where she lives (Buffalo) for a holiday gift. She enjoyed herself but I couldn't help but be a little disappointed.
As with many shows, understudies can be hit or miss due to having less chances to perform the role. That doesn't necessarily speak to the quality of the company. I saw Donald Webber Jr as the Hamilton Understudy on Broadway and he absolutely killed it. Similarly I saw Andrew Chappelle as the Jefferson Standby and I enjoyed his performance nearly as much as Daveed.
Shout out to understudies. I thought Leslie Odom was brilliant and then I saw Nik Walker and i though he knocked it out the park in a whole other way.
as for Bway cast, I was told that a buncha Chicago veterans are moving to Broadway- not sure exactly who, and this is all nonsense rumor, but I had heard Tamar Greene and Miguel Cervantes were all part of that transferring, which makes sense with Bryan Terrell Greene and Ryan Vasquez filling in for a bit.
I didnt mind Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica (i had only ever seen Renee Elise Goldsberry, which is an unfavorable comparison), but i still cant help but think of the many others who would eat up that role (Rebecca Naomi Jones, Shayna Steele, Sharone Sayegh...)
I never had a chance to see Mandy in the role (although if she stays I may eventually get that chance) and instead saw Syndee Winters. Syndee was absolutely fantastic. I think most of the disdain towards Mandy is a strong desire to see fresh blood in the role. Mandy has been playing Angelica forever.

It's crazy that the show has been open for over 4 years and we've only had 2 principal Angelicas. Yes, it's a good steady job, but how is she not worn out? My dream Angelica is Amber Grey.
