Cynthia Erivo regularly received mid-show standing ovations, and Glenn Close currently receives them, so I'm assuming you mean shows for which you've been in attendance.
Yes out of everything I have seen which is a good amount, I don't know that I recall a mid show extended standing ovation such has the one Bette and cast received after Hello Dolly.

Of course they are the ones he was in attendance,. What else would they be? Cynthia only received ovations after the act 2 number.. at least every time I saw it. Glenn doesn't really get standing ovations mid show. More like sitting ovations till the standard standing curtain call one.

Because he said, and I quote: "It was the first non special(closing/last show) mid show standing ovation." The phrasing needed clarification, that's all. And, yes, I was in attendance when Glenn Close received a standing ovation after "As If We Never Said Goodbye." This isn't worth fighting over, it's a matter of fact. Just because I'd like people to be precise in their statements doesn't mean that I wasn't standing along with everyone else after the title number in HELLO, DOLLY!
This is the reason why some people don't even want to post on this board. Of course I meant from the shows that I have seen. Could I have been more specific, perhaps, but I assume most logical people would understand that it was implied.
First of all, this is one of those rare revivals that feels like it actually fires on all cylinders and that I couldn't find a single thing wrong with this magnificent, joyful revival of Hello, Dolly! that I am glad I feel that way. I would rank Jerry Zaks' revival right up there with Bartlett Sher's brilliant, powerful revival of The King and I from 2015, heck I would rank this slightly higher than that one because what I witnessed inside the Shubert Theatre is something I never thought could happen, I was in pure, heavenly joy mode throughout the show from the Overture to the wonderful curtain call.
This show is by far Jerry Zaks' best musical revival period. Yes, it is even better than his revivals of Guys and Dolls and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. Why? Because I felt that while he did a great job with those two, I have this feeling inside me that he was only using those two as training to pull of such a task to mount this legendary show in the future. His direction has paid off in spades so beautifully that I would love to see him direct revivals of either Mame or Mack and Mabel.
The same praise could also go to Warren Carlyle, a choreographer who I've been hard towards in the past, has shown me that he didn't just use Gower Champion's dances, he took them and made it his own that actually felt it was integrated and natural while showing off his blossoming talents (and yes, "The Waiters Gallop" was freaking jaw-dropping). I feel the Tony Committee made a foolishly dumb decision by deeming his brilliant work here "ineligible". Oh well, at least the Drama Desk and Outer Critics were smart enough to see how much Warren has come so far in his career.
Bette Midler deserves all the awards hands down, she is so good that everyone tonight was in the palm of her hands from the ovations and audible cheering; her performance was moving, hilarious, and brimming with the talents that made her famous in the first place, that it actually fits Dolly Levi like a glove and I can't wait to see how Donna Murphy plays the part in June.
David Hyde Pierce is also great, he brings a humanizing touch to a role/character that could've been done so predictably but he surprised me by how much he dug into it that I actually understood Horace for the first time in this musical. Plus the addition of the cut song "Penny in My Pocket" definitely was a highlight of the night that it was actually an addition that felt welcomed. Everyone else from Gavin Creel, Kate Baldwin, Taylor Trensch, Beanie Feldstein, and Jennifer Simard were so perfectly cast/sung/performed that I can't think of any other superlatives to give them.
Santo Loquasto's magnificently detailed sets and colorful, period fitting costumes deserves the Tonys. Yes, they may actually slay the competition. Natasha Katz's lighting was colorful and striking, Larry Hochman's orchestrations do Jerry Herman's music justice in such a way that when I heard the Overture I swear there was a tear in my eye.
Guys, this show is what we need right now. PalJoey said it best when he said it was a healing balm, but I also think it's one of the pearly gates of Heaven, I'm dead serious. GO. SEE. IT. NOW!
Kate Baldwin looks too adorable. Does anyone know if they're selling those special souvenir booklets? I need to get a better look at those costumes (and I'm probably not going to see the show).
Great review Musical Master. While I have seen a lot of beautifully performed musicals — this production instantly grabs you and never lets you go. And it's the same for the whole audience. For those couple hours, we are all just one happy family experiencing great joy, passion, and dare I say "love." In a word, it's "Electric." A rare, and very wonderful experience. In a few short weeks, I get to go again. Counting the days.
And what does one say after reading Corine's review.........
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

When they announced this production, I bought a second row ticket when they went on sale and planned a trip to NY to see it. I ended up booking around 22 shows to see during my stay here. I finally got to see it tonight and I had a smile on my face from start to finish. Such a terrific production. The main cast was terrific, but I wanted to say that the ensemble members were working their butts off and what a fabulous bunch of performers they all are. Got to shake Bette's hand at the stage door after. I dropped my Playbill when she shook my hand, she looked at it on the floor on her side of the barrier and said, "I'm not getting down there. I'll break something." Love her.
