Retweet. x100."
YES. I really want to see this and hope I get very lucky, but this isn't going to be Broadway quality. It's Public Theatre and is running for like a week.

The problem is that just like Hercules, they’re created a massive ensemble cast that would be too expensive. I’m sure they’ll consider minimizing it. If that doesn’t happen, they’ll record an album, so schools and community theaters have a recording to use for productions."
This production has a cast of 200 people. They're not going to license it in its current form. Maybe this can lead to some more workshops in the future, but I feel like there will almost certainly be no cast recording.

Of course they can license it this way. The sheet music and script will say “ensemble” or “chorus.” The number of people in that ensemble will be up to the production, just like the release of Hunchback. The number of people in this has no bearing on whether or not it’s licensed. And this is Disney. They can and will pay an big ensemble to record a cast recording for one day if it makes them lots of money down the line. It’s all just going to be dependent on the reception the production receives. We’ll see.
Alan Menken even said there’s no future productions of this in general, even on Broadway. So I’m assuming this is a draft of something bigger. I just hope we get a cast recording

I don’t understand why every time I ask someone on these boards to post a bootleg of a show, the post gets taken down.
You don't understand why asking for something illegal would be taken down?
K."
Literally illegal to ask that, my dude. And I can't imagine there won't be a cast album eventually, just not of THIS cast. It depends all on what future plans are and what the response will be.
Well, like most projects that aren’t supposed to have a future life, there’s a long term timeline built in just in case... at least according to the cast member I spoke to.

It’s definitely not illegal to ask and it’s not illegal to even do. No one has ever been arrested, or even fined, for recording a live theatre production. It’s not allowed, but let’s not spread false information.

There are things called rules. This site has them. You don't make them for this site. Why? Because it is not your site, it is BWW's and they make the rules. If you do not like their rules, then don't post on the site. It is that simple.
Back on topic. Do we get an e-mail sometime today letting us know if we got tickets?

Um...have you ever seen a show before?? They literally tell you numerous times that it IS in fact illegal to record shows. It says it in your playbill, sometimes there are signs in the theater, they tell you somehow preshow that it is illegal...what makes you think it's okay???

I just wanted to make sure there would be access to seeing this show since I won’t be in NYC when it’s running and wanted to be able to see it for free online.
This would be greatly appreciated. Again, don’t want anyone to get in trouble by any means.
I know I can always count on you all! Thanks!!"
I'm going to be totally honest with you. The Public doesn't release footage of their shows. They may have B-roll footage, but you will not find this online anywhere. The staff in the park is very diligent about making sure that their productions are NOT filmed in any way, so if you don't win tickets (sorry) it's more than likely that you won't be able to see this production. No one is entitled to theater. You're entitled to a production when you pay to see it (or in this case, win tickets to it). Just because I couldn't afford to see (for example) American Son before it closed doesn't mean I was entitled to some sort of online version or bootleg (they just happened to announce that it would be coming to a streaming platform so I guess I got lucky). Idk what else to say. I'm sorry.

But you asked someone to post a bootleg. That is illegal. It just amazes me that "against the rules" and "against the law" mean nothing to people who feel entitled to have something they want.
As magictodo123 so well put it, if you pay for a show you are entitled to see it. If you don't get to actually sit in the theater for a show, then most likely you won't.
And again, by asking for a bootleg here, you are breaking the site rules. Something you don't seem to get or care about because in your "clearing up" comment you twisted it by saying you wanted to make sure there would be access to seeing it. That doesn't change the fact that it is illegal.

It actually is illegal to ask. Recording a show, without permission from the rights holder is a crime. Asking another to do so is inciting a crime, which is also a crime.

Copyright law is a civil violation, so no, it's not a crime to ask.

But if BroadwayWorld becomes a "marketplace" for bootlegs, they can get in some serious trouble. Which is why they have a rule against asking for bootlegs. Legal or not for the members, it's against b-way world's rules.

17 U.S.C. 506(A) AND 18 U.S.C. 2319-many people sell bootlegs. In that sense, crime.
I won 2 tix to this Saturday’s performance and was notified like right after 12pm! Of course it’s the one night I was going to have to move a bunch of things around to attend. I’ll figure it out.
