Jenrin said: "So, I've never attempted a cancellation line, but I am going to be in New York Tuesday-Friday and am thinking about getting into line Tuesday night.

my question is, if I stand in line all night long and my 70-year-old mother relieves me at 6am or so for a couple hours, is this possible? I'm not positive she could do it without a chair though. We only want two tickets.

Since Wednesday has the in person lottery and the two shows, it seemed like the best chance.

thanks for the help.

Even though you're in the same party, you would probably be called out for line swapping. That, per the RRT and fearless cancellation folks, is prohibited.

just wanted to share my experience:

me and my family of 5 headed up to the RRT on tuesday night and got there around 8:45pm. we were aiming for either of the wednesday shows. we didn't have a preference, we just wanted to get in. we got there and we were 5th in line, about 8th for tickets. we camped out overnight and got a room at a hotel nearby, so one or two of us could go up at a time and rest and swap throughout the day. i dont know if this counts as line swapping, but the people around us in line were okay with it since there were at most only 2 out of 5 of us in the hotel room at a time. we knew we were going to get into one of the shows, it was just a matter of which one. we ended up being the last group of people in for the matinee; we had two pairs (row g and h) and one standing room ticket.

if im not mistaken, there was a total of 14 tickets given out for the wednesday matinee: 1 pair of premiums earlier in the day, 3 singles, 4 pairs, and 1 SRO. we honestly couldnt believe our luck! we got to ny, waited in line, and saw the show in less than 24 hours. it's truly an amazing masterpiece, and i hope you all get to see it soon. :)

Just out of curiosity, I'm sure people who don't know any better or don't pay attention who buy their tickets from stubhub have shown up to the theater with just their phones and no printed tickets. Does the theater actually turn people away if they don't have printed tickets?

Least is different every day, but I would say you need to get there by at least 7 or 8 pm the night before you want to go to have a strong chance

Hello all! I've been following this discussion board for a while now and finally made an account so that I could post! I'm dying to see the show and hopefully the original cast, but I'm pretty limited in my chances because of costs and time. I would actually prefer standing room tickets because I don't have a problem standing for the duration of the show and for me the price is better than standard or premium. Can anyone tell me more about them? It seems like standing room tickets are pretty rare. Is there a reason for that? I know that most other shows that offer standing room sell a lot more of them, but on here I've only seen a couple mentioned every now and then.

Hi all! Does anyone know if you can purchase a single premium ticket? Or do they only sell them in pairs?

smile_more said:  Seems like standing room tickets are pretty rare. Is there a reason for that?

I think they are rare because people who work with the show can actually sell those to friends or family for $40 or even gift it at that small price.  I know of one person at work, who has a friend who works with/is affiliated with the show and saw "Hamilton" in SRO as a guest.  His friend treated him!  Niiiice!!!  When I told him about the SRO & cancellation line, he never heard of the line...I wish I never had either!  LOL!

A friend outside of work has a coworker who also saw the show via SRO when invited by someone else affiliated with the show.  She paid her own ticket.

During my 3rd time seeing Hamilton, I really had to use the bathroom after finishing my souvenir cup of soda, so I took a chance with my seat off the aisle and ran during "We Know/Hurricane".  I ran all the way from rear mezz to the basement ladies room & on my way back up, I stopped and saw th souvenir/bar level, continued to the second level & saw many people standing next to one another in the SRO area watching the show.  On the cancellation line, it's no more than a few SRO offered but I saw several standing and watching.  So my guess is this is why they are rare and the reason for it.  They get sold and not to the line.

below is a link to what SRO looks like:

Dude!  You know the drill already. You're a veteran of the board by now =)  It's not about the estimated wait for a Tuesday show, It's more like "how much time can I invest and commit to the line for a Tuesday show?"  Talk it over with your mom and see how many hours you can dedicate.  Compare and contrast the hours people have spent on the line to the amount of time you can spend, and that will give you an idea.

i know when you first posted you were saving your money for this and coming from Staten Island for it.  Give yourself plenty of time =)

DD and I have decided to see what the line looks like when we arrive and evaluate our options then. SOLD has raised their prices. If we get in line, I'll report back on how it goes. It sounds like we may be arriving to late to have a chance for tomorrow but we're going to try.

I've been trying to update but have had trouble posting from my phone; hopefully this goes through! I'm first in line for tonight's show now! :) I think ~15 tix (not including premium) were released last night. I know at least the first two were unclaimed lotto seats. I passed on the last ticket, a single standing room, which the person behind me took. The line was at least 15 people by about 11pm last night, and there are people who arrived last night who plan to stay for the Sat matinee if necessary. Hoping for another large ticket release tonight for everyone!

"Yay!  I wish I were with you!  Been trying all week to get resale tickets but timing and prices screwed me up.  Had hoped to pair up with buddies but that didn't work out either.  Good luck to you tonight!  I'm still playing lottery and checking resale...

Planning on doing the line again tonight for either one of the Saturday shows. I'm getting off work at 3, so I'll probably stop just go straight over to the line. I'll try to keep y'all updated if I can!

Especially, with these people.  It boggles my mind when I read these posts that $600 is considered a bargain (I guess it is for this show) for purchasing a ticket.  Nothing is worth that price (also the amount of time waiting in line) for a three hour show or even concert. I did spend $400 for Madonna's recent concert tour, but thank goodness she postponed my show and I got my money back.  I must have been severely impaired when I made that stupid purchase. I hope once Lin leaves the show that this obsession diminishes. But it's not up to me how people spend their time and money.  I would hope that some are not neglecting the necessities in life (like rent and food) to see this show.

Amen, ArtMan. No show is worth the stupid amounts of money people are spending on Hamilton. Like you said, we don't make decisions with how other people spend their money, but people considering $600/ticket a bargain need to consult a neurologist ASAP.

Do you think they will start splitting the line today between Friday and Saturday? I know that sometimes they do that.

Headed in the line today, I'm so excited!

Wow, that's some top notch concern trolling from you two.

Resale and cancellation line are great options considering this show is sold out through forever at face value. I would never wait in the cancellation line, but I'd spend the money, and I did. Some people are the opposite and would never spend the money but are happy to wait overnight. Big deal!  I work hard and am entitled to the occasional extravagance, and taking a trip to NY and seeing the OBC (or most of it) was the one I chose. Sitting on a tropical island for a few days? Seeing 3-4 shows that aren't as good? No thanks. Although I have a tight budget now for a couple of months, I have zero regrets and look forward to seeing the show again at face value in another city.

I can't imagine myself spending 600 dollars on a show, but I don't judge people who do. For some people, it's more about the whole experience, and if it's worth it to them...it's their money! I am someone who does value memories and experiences over things, so I've totally spend money on travel rather than a nice car or name-brand clothes or something. So yeah, I could see how someone might view the whole experience of Hamilton to be worth that price.

So, several weeks ago, I made an arrangement to sit in line for someone to get tickets. I'm a fan but there's no way I can even afford cancellation tickets. They had agreed to pay for me and a friend so she could surprise her boyfriend. Turns out the boyfriend surprised her today with tickets

I've already gotten my schedule arranged so I can be here. Is there anyone that is looking for one or two people to wait in line for tickets? I have someone willing to come with me but they are not as invested so it probably wouldn't hurt her feelings if you only want one.

Anyway, I am coming to town Tuesday morning and planning to stay through Wednesday night. I'm looking for someone that wants to buy my ticket if I wait in line for them. I hate doing this publicly but don't know another way to find someone.

TLHamilton Cancellation LineR I'm willing to line sit next Tuesday and Wednesday in exchange for a ticket. Please PM me.

Well, LA_TEE_DAH for you.  You really should have a little more than two week history with Broadwayworld  before you call someone a troll.  It's not trolling just my observation.  I did go by the cancellation line during my trip in May and spoke to some of the people in line about their experience.  I'll take sitting on a tropical island for 3-4 days any day.  And good luck with that "tight budget for the next couple of months".

Sorry you're so butt-hurt from two commenters on the internet. It's not trolling - it's an opinion. You don't need to defend your choice to wait on the street instead of going to the beach. Keep calm and carry on.
