now i don't feel so bad to admit that i dozed during OKLAHOMA (2002), THE KING & I (1996) and CONTACT (2000). I always get a little sleeping during the first act of Phantom during "All I Ask Of You"
I haven't actually fallen asleep, but there have been two times where I've started nodding off, my eyes have closed for a few moments and I've had to catch myself and wake up. In one instance I'd just gotten off a trans-Atlantic flight and I was tired and jet lagged. In the other instance it was a show I needed to see for a class, I was right in the middle of finals and term papers and was getting about 2 hours of sleep a night, and by the time I got to the theatre I was so dead on my feet I could barely stay awake.
I don't understand how anybody could fall asleep during "Wicked." Not because I'm in love with the show or anything, but because it is. SO. FREAKING. LOUD!
The person in front of me nodded off during the first scene of August: Osage County, but managed to get themselves together, and was riveted for the rest of the show.
The only show I ever fell asleep at was The Crucible. I was up for 20 hrs and as soon as I sat in my seat I was asleep. I kept waking up at random times and was so confused. I have fallen asleep before the show(usually at matinees since I work 3rd shift.) waiting for it to start. And I've fallen asleep at intermission. I wake up as soon as it starts though. Ironically I can't stay awake during movies. I don't think I watched a whole movie in 3 years. Sorry for getting off-topic.
Don't believe everything that you hear! Only the peeps involved know the truth!
My mother fell asleep at Grey Gardens. I was so engrossed in what was happening that I didn't notice until after Daddy's Girl when I went to look at her. I have never been more mortified. I had to spend all of intermission catching her up....she enjoyed the second act, at least! =)
My mom fell asleep during Pygmalion right from the beginning and I was SO mad at her that I couldn’t enjoy the first act. I kept poking her to keep her awake. I probably was so annoying to the people behind us, lol. oops. She was a little bit better during the second act. But I was so mad. I paid for her ticket for her, and still to this day joke with her that that was one expensive nap. She would’ve enjoyed the show too, if only she wasn’t so tired.
We're going to Wicked soon and I keep warning her not to fall asleep again. :-P
My friend, Bradley, fell asleep in Lord of the Rings right before and during the whole Act 1 closer with the gigantic balrog thingy. It was very amusing. Of course, he and I turned to each other and burst out laughing later on in the show when Gollum fell into the cracks of doom, but that's a different story.
I nodded off a little the second time I saw Grey Gardens. I loved the show, but I was tired and just happened to be very comfortable where I was sitting . Never actually fell asleep, though.
I thought my dad fell asleep during Romeo and Juliet at NYCB (I was actually willing to bet money he would), but apparently was just looking down because he was havign trouble with his glasses. He was highly insulted when I looked to see if he was awake.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

I fell asleep during avenue q in the west end. I hadn't slept in about 38 hours, our seats were rubbish and i'd already seen it 3 times.
Also fell asleep during midsummer nights dream, regretting that one now as i am currently studying it for a drama prelim tomorrow...

I fell asleep during a Phantom tour during the second act. We were also close to the stage. I was up all night the night before (not smart looking back).

I came very close once, but it had nothing to do with the show. I just made the mistake of going to the theatre the evening I arrived in NY (from London) and I was seriously jet-lagged. Plus, it didn't help that I was seated towards the back of the mezzanine. Updated On: 2/25/08 at 02:06 PM
I actually heard during Little Shop Of Horrors, a puupetier fell asleep ON THE FLOOR! I wonder when he woke up.
I fell asleep in the movie "Guess Who" due to being jetlagged after my london trip.
He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.
"Haha I read the title (obviously the wrong way) and pictured someone on stage falling asleep during the show. Imagine if that happened!"
It's happened to me. I was doing Kismet and was one of the whirling dirvishes at the top of the show. Our costumes made us look like giant piles of rags, and we were onstage throughout the entire half hour. One night I fell asleep, only to be jolted awake by the overture, and I had rolled over so I was staring right at the folks in the front row.
Sort of ruined the effect.

The only show I have nodded off in was The History Boys. I loved the play but I was so exhausted and dozed a couple of time here and there for no more than a few minutes each time.
My husband on the other hand has dozed off several times.. and he is an actor. Its generally because he was up working late the night before and it caught up to him with the dark lights and slow points in the show. My favorite was when we were 2nd row center at RENT and Tom Collins (I forgot who was playing him) sings I'll Cover You Reprise and looks down at my husband sleeping. Poor guy.
