I fell asleep and practically fell of the balcony from boredom during Phantom.

I have never fallen asleep, but I bring eleven and twelve year olds to NYC during the summer and after a long day of sight seeing, they have a pretty rough time. The most memorable was a young man who snored during Act II of Phantom and was so sound asleep, that the gun shots didn't even wake him. He was just worn out.

Not Broadway, but I did fall asleep during the second act of Notre Dame de Paris in London.

I remember a actor's guild performance of "Brighton Beach Memoirs" in L.A. many years ago. My friend and I were in the front row. My friend had had a couple of drinks before the theatre and fell asleep. Matthew Broderick was downstage right in front of us trying to recite his lines, but staring with cold hostility at my snoring friend, practically at his feet. I elbowed by friend who woke up with a loud "Owww!". Broderick gave me a nod of thanks.
adam, at a production of The Threepenny Opera i saw, Brian Charles Rooney fell asleep backstage and Alan Cumming kept calling for Lucy Brown OVER AND OVER until someone woke Brian up. it was funny
No, actually BCR is Diabetic and had a bad case of insulin shock (when your blood sugar level is so low you can pass out). if it weren't for Valisia Lekae Little, BCR might have been in serious trouble re: Have you ever fallen asleep in a Broadway show?

No one mentions that when this lovely bit of trivia comes up, because one of his Cast Mates "lovingly" recalled the anecdote for the Playbill Yearbook, without mentioning the fact that it was a health issue.

Hey, we all have our issues! :) All I can say is that BCR works hard re: Have you ever fallen asleep in a Broadway show?

My friends mock me because I'd often fall asleep for about 5 minutes in shows. My excuse that being in a warm Broadway theatre watching a show is like having a comfy, familiar blanket wrapped around you was starting to wear thin. So now I drink a triple espresso before everything.

I feel asleep during RING OF FIRE. I was sick, had an ear infection and a sore throat. I had also just flown into the city. My uncle had tickets and gave them to me. Oh well...I guess I sort of enjoyed myself. We were up in the mezz. We took the last row cause I was sick and knew I'd probably doze off.

I fell asleep at spring awakening, during whispering I just totally passed out. I was startled awake by the clapping.

I was struggling to stay awake through a production of Rossini's "The Italian Girl in Algiers". I just had a shoddy nights sleep the night before. Thank goodness it was put on by one of the cheaper opera companies where I live.

Yep, twice.

Once during the ill-fated Legs Diamond and also during Speed the Plow.

The woman sitting next to me at Spring Awakening not only slept through the entire show, but she snored, too.

It was my first time in New York, I had gotten up at about 6:00 am after staying out till 2:00am. Went, did all the sight seeing and all the stuff you do on your third day in New York. Then that night I went and saw Chicago and crashed out hardcore in the second act. My friend that was with me stated jiggeliing me and I rolled over and moaned. I woke to find this evil witch of an usher standing over me, she whispered what do you think you are doing. I looked her in the eye and said "it wasn't me", she smiled and walked away. I later felt like a huge A-Hole when I met the cast at the stage door.

I nodded off several times during my only visit to the Lion King. After Circle of Life I was bored.

This also happened during the dialogue-heavy parts of a Syracuse Stage production of My Fair Lady in 2005, but this was not completely due to boredom. I had just flew in to see my parents and was working strange hours. I was really overtired.

I have fallen asleep at two shows on Broadway. One was Titanic and the other was The Beauty Queen of Lenane. Not because I did not enjoy them, but I had worked overnight. I almost missed Jesus Christ Superstar in London because of the overnight flight, but got there just as the curtain went up(Steve Balsamo was a great Jesus). It pays to know the Underground

My Dad fell asleep during the first act of Beauty and the Beast. At intermission, my mom turned to him and slapped him in the stomach to wake him up. Then during the second act, we didn't even look over to see if he was awake or not. We realized it just wasn't his "cup of tea".

A friend of mine and I fell asleep during Judgement at Nuremberg we went to see it. It was something that I really wanted to see too but it was like taking an Ambien.

I fell asleep during the revival of A Streetcar Named Desire.

I was bored, mainly because I hate that play, and was mad that I couldn't see Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

I'm sorry to say that I dozed a bit during the first act of Curtains (before DHP appears) but DEBRA MONK kept waking me up! I LOVE HER!! I thought Debra and the show's finale were the best part of Curtains.

I nodded off during a performance of Wicked on tour. Maria Eberline as Elphaba + "I'm Not That Girl" + a full day of classes beforehand = goodnight.
