I know it's not a Broadway show, but I almost fell asleep at Elton John in Vegas at the Coliseum. I was up for 24 hours packing in London, drove for an hour and a half to Gatwick, flew 10 hours (i cant sleep on planes), and went straight to Elton John. This only happened because the original performance I had tickets for was cancelled.
The Lord of the Rings in Toronto -- but it had been a long day. The first act of The Apple Tree and I fought to keep myself awake during Phantom of the Opera Updated On: 2/24/08 at 06:35 PM
I have not fallen asleep at a Broadway show. I did fall asleep at the opera though. My choir took a trip to NY and that particular morning we had to get up at 5AM to perform on GMA and we had tickets to see Rigoletto at that evening's performance. The fact that we were seated in the nosebleed section at the MET and could not see a thing definitely had a factor, but for the most part it was because I was tired and bored out of my mind.
Rant, Wickud, Rant, Wickud, Rant! We're not gonna pay Rant! 'Cause everythink is Wickud!
"Leave Walt Disney Theatricals new sparkling production of The Little Mermaid on Broadway alone!!!"
lakezurich will be played by Paul Groves in the BWW musical
I have never actually fallen asleep at a show but I have come close. Never because of the quality of the show, but from traveling to NYC, walking all over the city, clubbing all night, not getting the proper rest, eating too much at a restaurant before the show, and finally- drinking too much. Mix all this together, then turn the lights down in a toasty warm theater and even though I am very excited, sometimes I have to fight heavy eyelids for the first few minutes of the performance.
I've never fallen asleep in a theater before, but I came so close to before Movin' Out, it was a long day and I seriously doubted being able to pull it together before the show and I was in the first row. Luckily that show was exciting and loud, plus with the help of being so close, I thankfully re-energized and happily made it through the show.
Believe it or not, I dozed off repeatedly the first time I saw Wicked on Broadway. It had a lot to do with the lack of something coming from the stage the night I saw it.

Did your colleagues enjoy the cake even though your cat decided to sit on it? ~GuyfromGermany
I wish I could have fallen asleep when I went to go see "The Color Purple". The only time I've ever been to New York, one of the only actual broadway shows I've ever seen, and I detested it with all my might. I'm acutally cheering that it's closing.
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who hated Butley. That entire show was complete torture.
I had a woman fall asleep next to me last week in Sunday in the Park With George. I would not have minded so much if she was not alternately hacking her head off and snoring loudly.
Now, mother always said that whenever you hear a strange, frightening, and potentially life-threatening ghostly chant coming from the dark woods that there's one thing that you should do: Not wake the others and go investigate it alone...
Once. It had nothing to do with the show; I hadn't slept the night before, and had a really bad trip up to NYC that morning, so it was out of sheer exhaustion rather than boredom.

Wanting life but never

I absolutely hate when it happens (who wants to take a $110 nap?!) but I did doze off in Act 2 of Wicked. I think it was because I over anticipated "Defying Gravity."
I have however, completely dozed off in The Scarlet Pimpernel. Some great music but that's about it?
i fell asleep during Act II of Tarzan. It was only for about 10 minutes but it was just boring. The onyl thing that made me love the show was the music. It was just th efact that it was green, green, and more green!
I started dozing off during the 42nd Street revival and my mom and I both started to fall asleep during The Drowsy Chaperone. I was actually wide awake before the shows, but they just bored me to death.
"I love this thread...because I DIDN'T start it, and I can still state that WICKED was the first (and only) Broadway show that I ever fell asleep during.
Yes, that's right folks....WICKED."
HAHAHA I DID TOO! At least, I think I did. The first time I saw it in 04. I don't remember a THING from that first time. And I remember being really tired. I definitely dozed off.
I've seen others fall asleep a number of times. The most recent was at The Homecoming, where the woman next to me spent most of act 1 doing the "head bob." Surprisingly, she remained for Act 2 (and fell asleep again!!)
Fell asleep during Thoroughly Modern Millie in London. I enjoyed the parts of the show I saw, but for some reason my friends and I thought it was a brilliant idea to see a show the night we had flown into London (we got in at 8 am after a red-eye and managed to stay awake all day).
I also fell asleep briefly during the second act of Young Frankenstein.
I wish I could go back to college. Life was so simple back then. - Kate Monster.
"Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing?" - George, Grey's Anatomy
My companion to Spelling Bee slept through almost all of it from the first ten minutes in onward....and I dozed off often. I was more interested in looking at the dark theatre than what I saw on stage.
How to properly use its/it's:
Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...
