I vote JONATHAN GROFF for HERCULES...
If this were 20 years ago, I'd say ANDY KARL for the lead... But he's way way WAY too old now... Even I will admit that!!
Out of these suggestions, I could definitely see Derek Klena as Hercules. There's a couple other ex-Fiyero-types who could probably make it work, too, like Kyle Dean Massey, Matt Shingledecker, or Jake Boyd. Aaron Tveit has aged out, I think.
For Meg, what about Barrett Doss?

Wait...YES. Another thought. Possibly wishful thinking, but I wouldn't mind them pulling another "Voice actor reprises their role on stage" aka I wouldn't mind James Woods doing this again. It worked with Freeman, it can work here. I just can't get the fast talking salesman out of my head thanks to Woods, but Simmons is the closest thing to it, just a more blustery type of fast talking salesman instead of the Woods type of snake oil salesman. Hades could be the speak singing type of villain, and I wonder if he just SHOULD be that.

I would LOVE that!!! It's amazing what she's done with her (arguably) thankless part in Groundhog Day. Would love to see her do something a little meatier.

It's very easy to make a hunky guy look awkward and gangly. I don't think they need two actors.
Oak please.

HA! Looks like this one got so triggered that someone isn't a fan of their beloved producer's son that they took the time to block me! Marc Platt is one powerful man.

I'm with bwayrose7 and The Josh: I would love to see Barrett Doss as Megara! Glad I'm not the only one.

I don't know. I think it also makes sense to have a time jump so I prefer two actors. It's less like something like Rocky and more like The Lion King. There's a part where he's young and with his adoptive parents. Then he goes into his training. And then at some point you'd switch out the actor which gives you a sense of how many years of training passed. It's not just a story about him bulking up. It's a coming of age story. It makes sense to have a younger actor and an older one.

I'm completely dumbfounded by all of these people posting Nick Adams and the man himself saying he should be Hercules. You need more than just the body to be Hercules. I love him as a performer and as an activist, but he's not a tenor at all. He's very much a baritone. I'd rather not have them lower the keys so that he could sing them on a nightly basis. Also do we think he could play the nerdy/awkward Herc in the beginning of the show?
Sidenote: I do love the casting of the last 3 though.

Can we stop with the suggestions of Broadway leading ladies for an ensemble track. It's insulting to their craft and caliber. That other post suggesting Cynthia Erivo and Danielle Brookes was just about the stupidest idea.

It's called a DREAM CAST ! Who we would love to see not who's going to get the role ! If you don't like these suggestions you don't have to respond

Yes it's called a "dream cast" so people can just chill if they don't like someone's dream. It's not called "who realistically are going to get the roles of a show that's not even written yet."
We actually have no idea how the stage adaptation will play out. From the original soundtrack of the film however Hercules only has one song with a reprise and Meg has one song. The Muses have six.
I care because of the reason I said. Cynthia Erivo's craft, caliber, and place in the musical theater is far too elevated for her to be even dream casted as a muse. Ariana DeBose is the leading actress in a successful Broadway musical, after having given years in the ensemble.
I'm assuming you like these performers, since you're dream casting them. If you actually like them however, respect their talent and hard work enough to dreamcast them as Meg /leading performer, and not just the Greek chorus. I'm not implying Greek chorus is bad (hell, Carrie Compere was an absolute Godsend in The Color Purple) or ensemble tracks don't work hard, but it's incredibly insulting for these actresses. They shouldn't have to fight that hard to get audience's attention only to have it thrown right back to the main story and those actors.
As for Westcoast Actor/Dir - you're right. We don't know what the musical would look like so it's possible that muses are more important than anyone else in the story. They were certainly the most interesting part of the movie, second only to Hades. But we can only be so hopeful.

Calm down. This is the definition of being offended at something that doesn't have any ramifications on your life and you are just being holier than thou to another poster. Anyone can dreamcast anyone in anything. It doesn't insult Cynthia Erivo and I'm 100% certain she wouldn't be insulated by dreamcasting on a message board. Calm down.

^^^ actually Erivo was offended. Check her twitter. Someone tweeted Her, JHud, Danielle Brooks and a few other women and dream cast them as the muses. She didn't like it. I would link the tweet, but I don't know how to do that.
I think a dream cast is simply a dream. So cast whoever the heck you want!

^ jaw-drop. That's some good stuff. While I find it odd how frequently she engages in these conversations on twitter - good for her. There's some really valuable lessons about learning self-worth and then standing your ground. I particularly like that she called out the person for typecasting her in a WOC stereotype.
The other day, I saw her being dream-cast in Sunset Boulevard several years down the line, and that made me very happy. Wish we could get to a place soon.

Holy Moly....that was intense. I don't blame her one bit. But overall, as far as I'm concerned the Muses by no means need to be Erivo level A listers, nor should they be. They're like the Genie in Aladdin, they'll be the stars of the show in their own right.
Count me as another one who would like to see Derek Klena take on Hercules. (I have a soft spot for him.) Maybe Christian Borle for Hades - I think he could really pull it off.
Edit: a few people mentioned Brad Oscar for Phil - YES.
