So I just watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail (cuz I wanted to see it before I check out Spamalot) and I didn't find it funny at all! I just thought that it was dumb and a waste of my time.
Should I still go see Spamalot???
Well, if you hated Holy Grail, and you go see Spamalot, and hate it, don't be surprised. It's pretty much verbatim, other than the song additions. I would personally not go see something I was going into expecting to hate:)
In one word - "NO"!
You need to be able to appreciate the 'weird' Monty Python humour when seeing Spamalot. If you know you don't like it don't waste your money.

I think it's okay to be unfamiliar with Monty Python and see Spamalot, but if you know you don't like the material or style of humor... yeah, I'd say the musical wouldn't do much for you. But who knows? You could be surprised.
No, of course not.
Wife and I saw both. I'm a Python fan, she's not (she also thinks the Three Stooges are not worth watching!!!). I loved the play, she thought it was just OK, but she wouldn't go again. I would.
My husband is a huge MP fan. I think a couple of skits are mildly amusing (namely the French taunter) but I am far from a fan. In fact, on the whole, I hated the movie when I watched it before going to see Spamalot. But ... We both loved the show -- he enjoyed the parts from the movie the most, I enjoyed the new stuff (especially The Song That Goes Like This and DHP's second act number). And we would both see it again.
What a stupid question. If you hate potato salad, would you eat a big bowl of it? Quit wasting time with your idiocy. Clueless bloodfart.
Thanks, very kind of you Russell...
If you look at the above responses, you will see that though people have not enjoyed the movie, they still liked the show. I do not like Elvis music but loved All Shook Up; I also like Billy Joel music and hated Movin Out. It was a perfectly legitimate question and I find your response extremely rude and unnecessary.
Always look on the dark side of life.
Do do.
Hope I can see it. It is sold out through June.
I want to see Tim Curry.
PS I ADORE Monty Python.

I based my answer off the word "hate" in the message title.
Hated Monty Python. Hated Spamalot. Sorry.
Ga just proved my point!:)
Well, if you hated the movie, why would you even want to see the stage show?
I see all the musicals when they come out. Just wondering now if I will like it. Apparently not, but I'll probably go anyway.
So then, not only will you be wasting your time, but $100 as well.
I'll do standing room and only waste $26... and a few hours sitting out in the cold waiting for the box office to open. And during the show.
Well $26 is better than $100. I hope you surprise yourself and really like it.
I hope so too!!!
Do you have tickets already? If so, I would love to hear your review, as the others have been from MP fans
Well, even though my answer to the title question is a hearty "No!", I hope that you enjoy the show, as well.
To answer the "why waste your time and money" question, I've never in my life actively hated a musical before, and the reports from Chicago were SO good that I thought there'd be a magic to the Broadway show that I was missing from the movies and skits. There wasn't. I don't regret being out $100, because I had the pleasure of sitting in front of Glenn Close.
Thank you Ga! Even though you didn't like the show, that's what I am doing- It sounds so good from everyone that I just have to go see it.
Plus, it was worth the money for me to be able to speak intelligently about the show. I think it's deplorable for people to bash OR shill something they haven't seen!
