Kelli O’Hara
I saw Violet. I saw If/Then and Bridges and Bullets.
Sutton was very good but not a Tony role.
Marin was out the night I saw the show. So she’s eliminated automatically. Sorry.
Idina and the show were absolutely incredible, entertaining, magnificent, spell binding. I loved every minute.
Kelli is all those things, too. But, Kelli has the near impossible task of convincing us that she is from Italy living her life away from where she belongs but also completely loving her family. Then she has to convince us that she, overnight, fell in love with a stranger and is willing… well, you know. She and the show do it all so perfectly. And that voice. Oh my. A Tony for Kelli. (Or maybe, a Toni for Kelli?)

As official as LuPone winning for Sweeney Todd.
Could Jessie Mueller sneak up on them come nominations?

Marin will probably be considered Featured. Dianne Weist won Supporting Actress for the role in the movie.
Jessi Meuller will be nominated for Beautiful.
Well, I'm glad that's all cleared up.
Yes, because it's official.
Can you roll your eyes out of your head? I might have. I think Kelli is doing great work and is phenomenally talented and I would be thrilled if she won.
But I wouldn't count out Jessie Mueller for a second.
I second Jesse. She transforms in King the same way Audra does with Day. Kelli was wonderful, but I truly believe it is a Mueller vs. Ohara race.

I hope Kelli doesn't see this and believe your hype. I'd hate to see her make a face like Raul did when he didn't get the Tony everyone knew he was going to win.

I bet if she saw that she would be like "DAMN!"

This. Definitely this.

Given that this will be her fifth nom with no wins so far, and given her glowing reviews, I think they will probably give it to Kelli. Idina's already won and her show got mediocre reviews. But with the kind of hyper-competitive year we're having, nothing is certain.
You people are making me want to gif...
*insert gif of Shirley's "The Lord is testing me"*
Kelli will NOT win and it's all because she was out the night I saw South Pacific. It's the FishermanBob curse. She really has no one to blame but herself.
omg. kelli was out when I saw South Pacific, too. maybe you are on to something.
Was she ever even in South Pacific???
"Then she has to convince us that she, overnight, fell in love with a stranger and is willing… well, you know. She and the show do it all so perfectly. "
Yes please don't forget the "show" because it is also the careful direction and carefully timed/spaced book that help this happen.
She had to convince us she's from Italy AND loves her family? Well, then by all means, hand her that Tony now. Because those Italians seldom love their non-Native families. That goes for all immigrants that marry Americans.
Your reasoning is beyond ridiculous.
Maybe she can keep her award on Raul's mantle, right next to his Tony for Company.

no, no, no dramamama. the point is that she is able to convince us that, even with this premise, she can fall in true love in a day. that is no small feat. she succeeds. that's what is amazing and skillful. -oh and she sings, too.
"As official as LuPone winning for Sweeney Todd."
Ironically, if LuPone had won for Sweeney - as many think she should - then she perhaps might not have won for Gypsy, and her biggest then-rival O'Hara might then have won - as many think she should - for South Pacific, in which case O'Hara's chances for winning for Bridges now might well have been diminished since the fact that O'Hara has never won a tony in spite of consistently superb work is probably her biggest single advantage in this season's tony race.
