I was at the matinee this afternoon. I am sad to see the show close, but I'm not surprised. As much as I like the new cast, I have to say that the magic is gone.

For those who thought NEXT TO NORMAL wouldn't have a life outside Broadway, well it's now playing in 4 cities, 9 different countries and has been translated into 6 languages.
Kinda saw this one coming, but it still saddens me very much.
And now it's official, all the shows that I saw on my first ever trip to NYC last April are now closed (closing). Thanks for the memories "A Little Night Music", "Promises, Promises", and "La Cage aux Folles".
I hope the tour is successful, and come to Seattle soon!
OMG! I'd totally die if Harvey did the tour too! I really enjoyed him when he was in Seattle for the "Hairspray" tryout, and he actually made me enjoy "Fiddler On The Roof" when he came here with it last season.
I enjoyed La Cage so much when I saw it last fall. I'm so sorry the show's closing in NYC, but know audiences across the country will be seeing a great tour!
I'm based in Australia and travelling to the States in two weeks time but don't hit NYC til May 3rd.
This show was top of our list to see and was booking my seats this weekend for it!!! Such a shame - love this show and had heard such great things.
Maybe it'll get a rush and they'll give it an extra few weeks! Happened to me with Gypsy and Bernadette Peters a few years back... they announced closure before we were getting to new York then demand saw the season extend for another two months!
Shame! Saw the new cast and they're all fantastic!
Hopefully Harvey will tour, we've all said it for various replacements, but not even testing out that category was a poor choice.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
This saddens me to hear since I wanted to catch the new cast. I loved this show, and I rank it as one of my best theatre experiences ever. This was simply amazing and I will miss it.

"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".

Damn, was hoping to catch this again around the 14th May.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I can't imagine that this show will be as good in some of the touring venues. One of the best things about this magical production was that it was small and intimate.
One of the theatres it will be touring to next year is The Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale. The Broward Center is basically a huge ugly barn, at least three times as big as the Longacre. How could you possibly get the same theatrical experience in this poor excuse for a theatre as you did as in the Longacre.
Harvey posted on his facebook last night before the announcement saying that he was talking with the producers about an extension of his contract, which was supposed to be up May 1. So I think there could be a possibility of him starring in the tour.
