How sad.
And so it begins...

I was at the matinee this afternoon. I am sad to see the show close, but I'm not surprised. As much as I like the new cast, I have to say that the magic is gone.
Not surprised at all. Well, good run? I guess.
Yes, they had a great run!
Was the new cast filmed for the archives?
I'm so sad... but I'm happy because I had the chance to see the performance last Saturday.

Glad I am seeing this tonight!
Kinda saw this one coming, but it still saddens me very much.
And now it's official, all the shows that I saw on my first ever trip to NYC last April are now closed (closing). Thanks for the memories "A Little Night Music", "Promises, Promises", and "La Cage aux Folles".
I hope the tour is successful, and come to Seattle soon!
I wonder if Harvey will tour with it. They did very well with him when he joined the Fiddler tour. And judging from his blogs .. he did enjoy touring.
OMG! I'd totally die if Harvey did the tour too! I really enjoyed him when he was in Seattle for the "Hairspray" tryout, and he actually made me enjoy "Fiddler On The Roof" when he came here with it last season.
I enjoyed La Cage so much when I saw it last fall. I'm so sorry the show's closing in NYC, but know audiences across the country will be seeing a great tour!

DEVASTATED!!!
I'm based in Australia and travelling to the States in two weeks time but don't hit NYC til May 3rd.
This show was top of our list to see and was booking my seats this weekend for it!!! Such a shame - love this show and had heard such great things.
Maybe it'll get a rush and they'll give it an extra few weeks! Happened to me with Gypsy and Bernadette Peters a few years back... they announced closure before we were getting to new York then demand saw the season extend for another two months!
Wishful thinking.
Shame! Saw the new cast and they're all fantastic!
Hopefully Harvey will tour, we've all said it for various replacements, but not even testing out that category was a poor choice.

It really had a good run. I'm sad to see it close, too, but look forward to seeing it again on tour (and with Harvey would be AMAZING!)
This saddens me to hear since I wanted to catch the new cast. I loved this show, and I rank it as one of my best theatre experiences ever. This was simply amazing and I will miss it.
Shock...not.
It had a great run, especially considering how recent the last (flop) revival was.
Do I remember correctly that it returned its investment last Fall?
Damn, was hoping to catch this again around the 14th May.

I'm gonna miss this one.
But hey! The Weisslers are leaving this theater... maybe they'll just book it for Scottsboro Boys?
Scarywarhol, I don't think it has recouped?
Well at least its pretty much doubled the amount of performances on Broadway that the awful 2005 revival did
I may have been thinking of Little Night Music, what with it also being a little London production transfer from last season.
I can't imagine that this show will be as good in some of the touring venues. One of the best things about this magical production was that it was small and intimate.
One of the theatres it will be touring to next year is The Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale. The Broward Center is basically a huge ugly barn, at least three times as big as the Longacre. How could you possibly get the same theatrical experience in this poor excuse for a theatre as you did as in the Longacre.

Harvey posted on his facebook last night before the announcement saying that he was talking with the producers about an extension of his contract, which was supposed to be up May 1. So I think there could be a possibility of him starring in the tour.
