Emma Roberts went to tonight's show.

I was on the "surely Lea Michele can't be that good" train. I saw her tonight and was proven wrong. I've seen this show three times now (Beanie, Julie, and now Lea). The quality of her performance distracts you from whatever gripes you may have about other parts of the show. She and Ramin have great chemistry (and she broke a couple of times tonight, which I always enjoy seeing), and the emotional delivery was there.
I'm not going to see this again (three times is enough), but this show has gone from middling to worth a watch.
Now this is how a STAR does it!
Lea Michele steps out in a sweet and sexy combo as she makes her way to the theater to perform in Funny Girl

Someone on twitter tweeted that Lea Michele recorded something for Funny Girl at the studio she worked at. Take it with a grain of salt, of course. But if true, could it be a cast recording?

I think Tovah mentioned something about a cast recording in an interview, but I Could be wrong
Shock and awe.
Not gonna lie, my mouth dropped open. This has all been so wild.
eta- I mean, I had just resigned myself to believing that there would be no cast recording, is what I mean.

I was just driving in my car listening to the Glee version of DROMP and kept thinking "what a missed opportunity to immortalize this moment" and lo and behold. I cannot wait for this!
So glad there’ll be an expanded string section!
THRILLED to hear that there will be a recording with Lea!

The link is now broken - can someone who saw it describe what it was? I gather it revealed there would be a cast recording, which is incredible news!

I'm assuming it's the post from the FG orchestra talking about a cast recording. Along with a picture of the orchestra in the studio.

Getting a cast recording of this show with this cast AND a fuller orchestra is thrilling.

What a slap in the face to Beanie. I mean, I understand reviews and all, but still. So rude.

What would you prefer?
Take away a great recording opportunity from the rest of the cast just so Beanie doesn't feel hurt? It's not all about her and her feeling.
She's a professional. Sometimes things don't work out. You should treat her as such.
Imagine thinking business is about feelings. Imagine.

It's not rude. It's a business decision with a superior vocalist. It now makes sense to do the recording. Beanie has moved on, the production has moved on, perhaps you should as well.

I never said I thought business is about feelings. I just mentioned it's rude what they're doing. That's it.
Not rude at all. I, for one, am GLAD they didn't record with Beanie. With Lea singing this score, I will actually WANT to listen to this cast album.

Rude? LOL - rude far from it! That's Show Business and nobody wanted to hear Beanie's voice on a Funny Girl cast recording...enough said!

It's not rude at all. Beanie should be thankful that there's so little recorded from her performances. Can you imagine the comparisons if she actually had a cast recording?

Oy. That's a very good point. I guess I just find it weird. Ah well. Not my place to make any sort of decision like that. We get what we get haha

This is really the best possible outcome for everyone. The cast and production get a recording for posterity. Beanie is saved from the embarrassment. The audience will get to hear an updated recording with better sound quality since the original. And Lea and the cast would be eligible for a Grammy.
