It's not rude at all. Beanie should be thankful that there's so little recorded from her performances. Can you imagine the comparisons if she actually had a cast recording?"
Oy. That's a very good point. I guess I just find it weird. Ah well. Not my place to make any sort of decision like that. We get what we get haha"
This is really the best possible outcome for everyone. The cast and production get a recording for posterity. Beanie is saved from the embarrassment. The audience will get to hear an updated recording with better sound quality since the original. And Lea and the cast would be eligible for a Grammy."

Even though they're a replacement cast? Is it because they submit themselves for consideration?

The show won't be eligible for a Tony, but could be for Grammy 2024 since it's past the 2023 cutoff date. I don't think it matters if you are OBC for the Best Musical Theater Album

Rude? Should we just make them close the theater so it won't be "rude" to our Beanie at all? Funny Girl Revival already lost the chance to be nominated for Tony.. The show is reviving from dead to be a hit at Broadway now and finally found her glory and attention she deserves. You tell me getting a recording from current cast is rude to Beanie? Then she has been "rude" to everyone in the production and audience since the opening night.. We audience deserve a recording from current cast.. the only thing that is rude to herself is her talent. I just don't understand why still people trying so hard to defend her so hard.. She moved on and the show must go on, okay? If you don't like it, move on too! You are "RUDE" to the current cast and everyone who is trying to make this show better.

I am sobbing.. finally I could have recording from spectacular Lea and Ramin.. Just the way it should be! Sad the current cast cannot be nominated by Tony but I am praying they can win a Grammy for this amazing recording... Funny Girl Revival is doomed to revive from ashes and slay.
This is quite unprecedented. I think the last time anything like this happened was when Melissa Errico was replaced by Rebecca Luker on the cast recording of the CSC's production of Passion. I think she had bronchitis.
I'm surprised Beanie didn't have the cast recording in her contract. I'm sure other stars won't make the same mistake in the future.

Errico had nodes/needed surgery/couldn't sing at strength for many weeks, which led to the cast change. Just FYI on that!

It's 99.9% certain she did (pretty much all actors in musicals have Cast Album riders). They would have to buy her out and pay whatever she would have gotten (usually a week's salary).

Said that from the get go. Saw her in her wedding dress, which I thought was odd, but possible it's one of many. While she is moving forward, she will go to her grave remembering Funny Girl. So happy for Ramin especially, but the entire cast. I'll certainly buy a CD.

if those other stars can’t sing the score they should be happy that their mediocre vocals aren’t preserved for all time. idk why they would consider it a mistake.

Have none of the Beanie Babies noticed that in all of her promotional appearances for the show - Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, GMA - the one thing she never did was sing? How odd is that for the headlining star of a Broadway MUSICAL? Not even an appearance on the Tonys to try to promote what was then a struggling show. Meanwhile, Lea is now singing her heart out on Jimmy Fallon and GMA. It's a safe bet that either the producers knew that hearing Beanie singing live wasn't going to sell a lot of tickets, or Beanie herself wasn't comfortable with her performance being recorded and played back ad infinitum. This is the best possible result. (And if I'm wrong about Beanie never having sung to promote the show, please let me know.)

Lmao wow you have got to chill. I’m not rude. This rant you just went on is more rude than what I said. As they say “go touch some grass”. Geez.
“beanie babies”? I’m not a huge fan. I just thought it was rude. Thankfully other people have a more polite way of explaining why it makes sense that there is a cast recording with Lea. Y’all tell me to calm down-maybe look at yourselves first :)
I do understand. People just don’t have to be so rude in explaining why this makes sense now.
A slap in the face to Beanie? LOL. She's a sweet girl and she has my sympathy for the dreadful situation this past spring, but I'm sure even she knew a cast album would no longer be a possibility once the show opened and reviews came in. She should be happy they never made one for her, it would only allow for more people to hear her voice and add fuel to the fire of negative commentary.
Lea's a master at live performance AND studio recordings with multiple studio albums and hundreds of covers for Glee. I can't wait to hear her voice on the new album. She really is in fantastic vocal shape to be devouring this score 7x a week and all these extra performances lately plus the album.
I'm also just happy for the rest of the cast who finally get to take part in the. "usual Broadway things."

During one of her appearances, Streisand singing was played over her entrance I believe.
So many people (elsewhere) keep bringing up Beanie and how sad the situation is for her and I don't understand.
Sure, Beanie has a hurt pride right now. But she's still rich and she still has a movie career as long as she keeps her connections. It was the height of either arrogance or delusion for her to take on a role she knew she could not perform the hell out of. It was not fair to the rest of the cast and crew AND the paying audience. She sounds downright bored in some of the clips. I knew people who had such high hops but had to leave during intermission in disappointment.
Lea is out there every night performing like it's her first and last time. She's giving her all EVERY night.
Let's not forget that the entire reawakening of the show hinged on the fact that she would not only be good, but extraordinary. If she had failed to impress, if she had only been good but not remarkable, her career would probably be stalled for a while if not completely ruined, AND she doesn't have the comfort of nepotism to crawl back to.
She's amazingly talented, put in the work AND saved the show both critically and financially. She deserves this cast recording more than Beanie ever did.

You started the "RUDE" drama so keep it to yourself. I believe Beanie does not care anymore.. She moved on with her life and lessons she learned from Funny Girl Revival.. Why would she feel "rude" about this recording? U need to move.. tons of people need this recording.

Literally nobody NEEDS the recording lol
I don't know about need, kind of the wrong word, like rude was the wrong word. Rude is generally an expression used in a social situation. This was business. In any event, Beanie's inept performance, that everyone seemed to know about before the show even opened prevented a number of people from getting recognition. Jared was the only actor singled out for a nomination. That's on the producers especially those closely connected to Beanie. So she will continue to have a career after this.
Everyone likely worked their butts off to make the show a success. No one signed on for a flop and I can only imagine how difficult it was for many to go on every night knowing their leading lady wasn't cutting it and what looked like at least a year's work was turning to dust after 3 months. So, yeah, they need the boost of an album. They earned it - not just the money, but being in hit show, because they were the capable ones and weren't looking for a participation trophy. An album is real, something every actor in the show can say, I did this and I'm proud of my work.
hearthemsing22 said: "I’ve also been wondering something ever since Leas casting was announced (basically)…do you think the revival will close if/when she chooses to leave?"
Depends. If they're smart they can build up to Julie or someone else taking over full time. How they can do that without sidelining Lea I don't know though.
