Hi everyone, British here looking for some advice.
So I've been trying to get back over to NYC since September to see Lea play Fanny Brice and I think I may finally be able to manage it in early August. For someone who's used to West End (and usually does rush for something like $35!) the prices are eye-watering but I know it'll be worth it. It's probably been asked before so sorry for repeating but does anyone have opinions on the partial view seats at the front of the orchestra. To me they seem like a better deal than the full-view ones right at the back of the orchestra. I saw the production with Beanie (wish I hadn't lol) from around Row M of the mezzanine so I've seen the staging before and know it's not exactly a big production in terms of set. I'd have thought it would be better to see Lea up close and miss some parts than be right at the back under the overhang but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Second question: fees. I know you can avoid them by booking in person at the box office but I wouldn't be able to do that until I get to New York, probably the day before or the day of my chosen performance. I'd guess the demand will be very high for the final month of the run/the summer holidays so probably not worth risking it to save $20?
Final question, would I definitely get a refund for a ticket booked via SeatGeek if Lea was off? I'm sure Julie is fantastic but as I said I've already seen this production with Beanie, and saw Sheridan do it in London, so I have no interest seeing it again without Lea, and especially not at $200+!

Thanks all <3"
Summer isn’t that busy for Broadway, so it’s hard to say. I was able to see her again for $110 (including fees) at an incredible center orchestra seat last weekend with the 4th of July sale. So keep an eye out goce any sales.
If you’ve already see the stage, I would personally choose left side orchestra. She spends more time on the left side. I’ve sat as far as D11 and thought it was perfect.
If you book a performance that Lea is scheduled for, and she has to call out sick, you can get 100% refund. It happened to me in March. SeatGeek sends out an email right away informing ticket holders with info. It had a phone number. I called in & it sounded like they had a whole call center ready to deal with the situation. They gave a refund no questions asked, & my credit card was refunded immediately. (It might depend on your bank how soon funds are available to use)

The tkts booth by Lincoln Center has had incredible half-price front orchestra seats for Lea nights at Funny Girl. It also opens at 11 AM. So if you go and by chance do not get a ticket you have plenty of time to get to the box office. Also, if you purchase tickets via seat geek, make sure you’re purchasing an official box office seat. It will tell you. If you buy a resell ticket, then you might have more of a difficult time getting a refund if Lea is out. Have fun!
Is there a regular section on the ''Funny Girl'' website that lists upcoming absences? I saw the note about how Lea Michele does 7 shows a week and Julie Benko does Thursdays. But I had to click onto the date of Sun., July 23, to find out Michele isn't doing that matinee. Any others?
And how long is Ramin Karimloo out for (to do ''Phantom of the Opera'' in Italy)? The dates? And who's filling in for him? ... Any planned absences for Tovah Feldshuh? Thanks!

Ms. Michele will not perform on Sunday 7/23 at 2pm
Ms. Michele will not perform August 17th through August 20th
Also note - Ramin Karimloo will not perform Tuesday June 27th through Sunday July 16th. Tovah Feldshuh will not perform June 27th through July 13th, July 28th through 30th and August 17th through August 25th. Jared Grimes will not perform Monday July 3rd thorugh Sunday July 9th.
Otherwise, we can confirm that all of our other principals remain scheduled to perform all eight (8) performances a week barring an unforeseen absence.
***Liz McCartney goes on for Mrs. Brice- Tovah***Curtis Holland goes on for Eddie-Jared Grimes ***
Not sure who's been going on for Nick-Ramin

Thanks, Robbie2. You're an invaluable fountain of facts.
(Was all that info on their site, and I just missed it?)
Anyway, someone must've seen ''Funny Girl'' since Ramin took his leave. In the past, his standby, Jeremiah James, has gone on for him. And the Nick understudies are listed as Kurt Csolak and Stephen Mark Lucas. Anyone seen 'em?
Feldshuh seems to be out for a number of shows. I'd never heard of her missing before (other than for Jewish holidays). She's such a trouper. Previous engagements?

:)
Jeremiah was going on for Ramin but heard he left the show.

I saw Stephen Mark Lucas recently as Nick. He’s okay but his voice doesn’t carry like Ramin’s. It was missing that chemistry between Nick and Fanny
Liz McCartney was on for Ms Brice. Totally fine but having seen Tovah, I very much prefer Tovah.

I know she is at least out for the same period as Ramin for his POTO run - so they'll be back at the same time - July 18. Vacation, maybe? Then she's off a few days in August. I suspect she had other commitments made before the decision to take the show to September.
First, a correction. I misspelled his name in my original post: It should be Stephen Mark LUKAS. And here's a clip of Lukas playing Lancelot and singing ''C'est Moi'' in ''Camelot'' in 2016 at the Westport Country Playhouse in Connecticut. (For the record, Robert Sean Leonard was King Arthur.)
Quick question: If you had to choose between far left orchestra and far right orchestra in partial view seats (Row F or G, on the aisle), what side would you choose - in terms of what you would miss? Related question: Are those seats worth buying, even at comparative discounts?

I sat far left in one of those partial view seats and don’t recall any obstructions. Loved the seat, especially for the price.

How much do the partial-view seats cost, roughly?
I went to the website and can't even find them. Thanks!"
Prices for partial view seats vary depending on the date. I’ve seen them on the website for as low as $133 and (including fees) and as high as $222. They are probably higher on the final weekends but I haven’t looked, and there always is the occasional late discount. There are two partial view seat locations in the orchestra (far side from Row A to Row G near the stage and Row Y and Z in the rear orchestra).
Thanks, Bear88! ... Geez, that's so expensive for PARTIAL-view. I remember once seeing ''Aladdin'' and ''Newsies'' from partial-view (on the far sides of the orchestra). They were a bargain, and you could see practically everything.
Heck, even now, ''Back to the Future'' offers some partial view (on the far sides of the orchestra) for $58!

I've seen partial view seats for significantly less than that. I've had full view side orchestra for $110 (during 4th July sale) and $130 regular.
The Los Angeles engagement of Funny Girl has been late to announce. My guess is that it is going into the Ahmanson which is the only theater that has not announced their next touring season. Sam Rubin from KTLA said that they are waiting on a casting confirmation to announce the season. But that we should be getting a announcement very soon. Maybe we are getting Lea? I can see her wanting to play LA.
The August Wilson orchestra is long and narrow, which makes the front orchestra partial view seats particularly good for this show, and I agree that a lot more action takes place house left.

The brief mention on this mornings show was that the Ahmanson had not announced their upcoming season yet . No mention was made of Funny Girl or any other show. But when he said they might be waiting on a casting announcement my brain immediately went to Lea in Funny Girl as well.

My primary concern is whether I would miss much on that side (stage right towards the back) or if much of the activity is at the center of the stage or stage left.
The partial view seats seem more appealing than rear orchestra, but I haven’t been at the August Wilson.
I’m still waiting to see if prices for the last week (Tuesday or Wednesday) drop a little more but also want to be realistic given the dates I will be there.
It’s safe to assume if the FUNNY GIRL stops in L.A., Lea will most definitely do that tour’s stop if she’s not committed to a conflicting project. As many others who left Broadway for L.A. have done, they did the L.A. run of shows they were once part of on Broadway. Lea would have the chance to have her Fanny seen by her industry peers and film/TV community after the raves she received on Broadway. She fortunately was able to salvage her notorious reputation with her work ethic (word out here has forgiven her with many never questioning her talent but her toxic work ethics).

My guess is FG plays the Ahmanson April 2 thru the 28th.
