Has anyone seen Ephie? Curious to hear what her performance is like.

I'm just posting this so I can see the first post on the new page.

You'd think, with this massive redesign of the site, they would have fixed this incredibly annoying issue. But I guess not.

Does anyone have anything showing Ephie singing in character? I like her voice ...sounds good but without seeing a performance of something it is hard to judge.

I might swing by the theater and see if they're doing standing room tonight to see Ephie. If I'm successful I'll report back!

Now that some Lea performances have been up at the booth;  can someone share where the seat locations have been ?  And what have the prices been?  Thank you.

I bought a single ticket for Tuesday night's performance with Lea at TKTS -- $110 for Orch Right Row H,  Aisle Seat 2 (closest to center).

I saw her on friday. She had me from "the greatest star". I was hooked and truly enjoyed her performance! If Julie is unavailable and Lea is out I'd happily see her. However, people behind me were not so kind. They were saying she could not carry the show and was not a star. Please. Like they could have done the role. I did notice she has a kind of old-timey voice that I really like. But hey-I respect their opinion. I didn't say anything to them either.

Bottom line-if she is on, I'd see her again.

Yes her voice is a broadway voice..a really good broadway voice. Is she Lea no but she has a great sound and a pretty voice. I think the only thing Julie has on her is that she looks very similar to Fanny (to me) and she has comic looks in her that you can't fake. I like Ephie a lot, I would love to see her, she just sounds very different than the other two powerhouses

I was planning on going by the booth this Wednesday.  There seems to be plenty of availability,  On the Funny Girl site it says Lea will be on.  But on yesterdays instagram Lea posted a picture of herself at the beach and said " this is me in 24 hours".  Does anyone know anything I don't know?  And what is the policy for tkts purchased tickets if she is out?

I wondered the same thing.  It’s on TKTS for both the matinee and the evening performances.

That’s not unusual now. The show is always on TKTS. There’s no notice saying that Lea Michele is out.

According to the Broadway Grosses - FG was at 89.33% capacity for the week ending 5/28/23 - up from 67.67% the week before - when Lea was out. So, they really took a hit. They will never get 100% so long as Julie (or anyone) is alternating on Thursdays but would probably like to be in the area of 95% (give or take) when Lea is doing all  7 of her scheduled shows.

I will concede to a tad bit of frustration seeing all the sanely priced Funny Girl tickets available - on a Saturday night, with Lea Michele in - on the website, not to mention the TKTS booth. They’re cheaper now, and next month, and early August, than they have been during her entire run.

Alas, I’m not going to New York City then. I’m going to be in New York City during its last week, when tickets on Tuesday and Wednesday are going for $335 or $278 (or more than $400) with a few exceptions in questionable locations.

I know several of you said, probably correctly, that prices won’t be going down from current levels for the last week (or perhaps the last three weeks).

But there’s such a yawning gap between ticket prices now and ticket prices in late August that has only grown since then. I understand there will be a ramp-up in demand to the show during its last week, but why aren’t people who love the revival taking advantage of the relative bargains now? My only ‘strategy’ at this point is waiting to see if prices drop some closer to when I’m going to be there, but I am operating on the assumption that I will be seeing something else.

That's incredibly foolish of you. Be mad all you want that strangers aren't taking advantages of the prices right now but that doesn't really help you. The last week of Funny Girl will just become more and more expensive with each passing day so you're risking not seeing it at all or paying even more.

I know it doesn’t help me, and I may not end up seeing the revival as a result. But the prices for late August are more than $100 more per ticket than the $222 I was willing to pay in March for a comparable seat. Lea Michele was out then, so we cancelled and saw Shucked instead.

The possibility of seeing Funny Girl only came up again because my wife and I will be in town for a wedding at the end of August. And I already have another high-priced revival I would like to see this fall: Merrily We Roll Along - and I’m not willing to spend more than $252 for that.

I know your position: See Funny Girl with Michele, almost at any cost. I respect that, and many people - certainly on this thread - share your view. But from watching Funny Girl ticket prices, they tend to drop closer to the day of the show. Maybe that won’t happen this time because it’s the last week, or prices will go up. But $335 for side orchestra seats seems awfully steep for a musical with a famously weak (by reputation) second act, even if Michele is as terrific as I assume she would be. I will overpay, but only so much, especially when ticket sales have gotten soft enough that tickets now are available for less than half of that.

If I don’t see Funny Girl with Lea Michele for $670 for two people, I will survive. I’m OK if you think I’m being foolish.

The second act is not weak with Michele and Karimloo - Who Are You Now is the high point of the show, as far as I'm concerned. It's why the show was written, I think, and making the song a duet was a brilliant idea. I think it was what Frances hoped to show about her parents. The entire show works with this cast.

As someone who had limited funds, too, I will say, you will not be disappointed. Not sure the Sondheim piece will measure up and it will be done again. It is likely to be another 50 years before FG will be produced again at this level, if at all. Yeah, we make a lot of it, but it is an event, not just a musical.

I hope you can get less expensive tickets while you are in NYC.

Correct. Anyone who misses this once in a lifetime performance based on something that no longer exists is a fool.

That’s fine. I shouldn’t have brought up the virtues of a musical I haven’t seen. I am sure it is a fine revival with excellent performances, one that interested me enough that I bought tickets to see it in March.

This is just a price issue, and sometimes you’re just priced out - unless things change.

As for Sutton’s assessment of me as a fool if I don’t see this particular musical at the current prices listed for late August, all I can say is that I’ve done more foolish things in my life.

Are Ramin and Tovah leaving? I looked at a number of different dates to buy tix in July and they are listed as not performing. Found it odd they had they much vacation?

I don't know about Tovah, but I suspect she's taking vacation time.

As for Ramin, he is taking 3 weeks to do Phantom Trieste in Italy. One week rehearsal and a two weeks run, then he's back with FG. I suspect the contract was signed for Phantom before the decision was made to extend FG from June to September. If you recall there was a thread here on BWW about Ramin returning to Phantom - turned out not to be Broadway, but the Italian production.

And that's fine... you're allowed to be personally priced out of a show... But continuing to post about the pricing of the show being too high (for you) in the final week isn't going to change the producers' minds or change anything. The bottom line is this - the show WILL sell during the final week, and it WILL sell at high price points - it's a high profile revival with a star turning in a once in a lifetime performance. The producers aren't going to lower the price just to make it convenient for you, and while I understand being frustrated, continuing to harp on the prices over and over isn't going to change a thing.

It is not a huge theatre.  I do not know if there are still cheap balcony seats.  If there are, you should reallly get them.  I have loved shows from the worst seats and hated some shows from the best seats.  If available, go for cheaper seats…you will love Lea M’s performance.  The show is better and mega-more exciting with her, but still not that good.  Great lead, great Tovah, great music.  Enjoy and make some great memories.
