Taken from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly:
"While The Megan Mullally Show marks a break in the actress' sitcom career, it might not mean the end of her beloved Will & Grace role. 'Nobody's ever kept their sitcom character going after the show's off the air,' Mullally claims (although Vicki Lawrence's Mama may beg to differ), so before the talk show came through, Mullally was working on a Broadway production of Karen: The Musical. 'I think it's hilarious,' Mullally says of the idea, promising the project isn't dead, just on hold. 'It's so, like, wrong. You're never supposed to keep [your old character] going.' Suddenly she lets out an uncharacteristically loud laugh, and her eyes take on a familiar gleam. 'But, see, that's what makes me want to keep doing it.' Maybe Karen's still lurking in there somewhere after all."

Please let this be true. please. The understudy should be Lisa Howard because they look alike, especially with her spelling bee hairdo :)

Why do people with funny ideas for cabaret acts or small Off-Broadway shows always aim for Broadway? Bad idea. Won't work.

I'd be there in a heartbeat.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
that would basically be, amazing. (:
i agree. it won't work. this is so a cabaret act
You never know until you read the script. I think it could work...but I can't envision this without Jack...and Rosario...
I agree hook Karen is nothing without them!
This sounds like it could either way. Megan is the best one in the cast, and i'd love to see Shelley Morrison join her. My company here in the UK release Will & Grace on DVD and we've just released the full season 1 -8 Box Set. It's bloody heavy though.

Just seeing Megan on stage again would be good enough for me. I still think that she would make the perfect "Drowsy Chaperone." But to have an entire musical based on her role as Karen I have my doubts on whether it would work or not.
I agree that Jack and Rosario would have to be in it.
Well she's gonna need something to do when her talk-show gets cancelled later this year.
Anything to bring Megan onstage or play the role of Karen again will do for me!
But I think Jack 2007 will be a better show! :P
Jack and Rosario are a must...Karen Walker has to be the funniest TV character EVER!
I want a Karen doll with a martinti glass that has a string and when you pull it,it says 5 different things.."Oh Honey", "I wouldn't give you 88 cents rose" , "my name is Anastascia Beaverhousen", "I'm A funny lesbian.. I'm ELLEN" , "Oh, my God. She just asked a Fairy an engine question. We're all gonna die in this car."
I'd pay good money. I love her.

Her residuals from W&G will no doubt pay the rent for at least a couple of years. :)

Please make it not be true. Karen is a sidekick, not a star. Without Jack as her foil she is a bore.
Did you mean for those last two lines to come out in slant rhyme? Nice work.
I think it would be fun for Megan to tour as "Karen" in a cabaret-style show, playing smaller clubs. She could banter with the audience, sip cocktails, sing songs and cause a scene. It would be less structured than a formal show and a ton of fun.
I also would love if John Cameron Mitchell did a cabaret-style tour as Hedwig. Again, not a linear story, but just as if you were going to see Hedwig live and she could tell anecdotes and sing.
Ahh, those are my dreams.
Why not pair up Karen and Mama?
On a related note, whatever happened to the brilliant idea of making "Designing Women" into a Broadway show?
