Little Lamb from Gypsy. Anything that Sondheim wrote after Gypsy. Anything Audra McDonald has sung - ever. Little People - Les Mis Castle on a cloud - Les Mis All of Bill Elliott All of Annie Oh, hell, any child put on a Broadway stage in anything.
Yeah "Turkey Lurkey Time" was not for me. Loved ITHs and N2N but could have lived without "Inutil" and "Hey #1" and "Hey #2". Updated On: 1/23/11 at 09:47 PM
Anything, and I mean ANYTHING, from ANY Andrew Lloyd Weber show. Something about his music and lyrics just seem so egotistical to me. I only stand Evita because of Mandy and Patti. And Joseph, really? "Go go go Joseph you know what they say" ^You're kidding me right? I could have written those lyrics when I was two.
Iowa Stubborn and Shipoopi from Music Man! WHY does the ensemble get the WORST material in the show!
The Fantasticks in general!
Anyone Can Whistle! That book should be burned!
Mr. Goldstone in Gypsy! I adore Gypsy but I DREAD that number!
Butters, go buy World of Warcraft, install it on your computer, and join the online sensation before we all murder you.
--Cartman: South Park
ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
Katurian2, I mentioned Little People earlier. You must have missed it.
"Look I made a hat... where there never was a hat."
"Think of how I adore you, think of how much you love me. If I were perfect for you, wouldn't you tire of me?"
"Somebody, crowd me with love. Somebody, force me to care. Somebody, make me come through, I'll always be there, as frightened as you, to help us survive. Being alive. Being alive. Being alive!"
"There are worse things than staring at the water as you're posing for a picture after sleeping on the ferry after getting up at seven to come over to an island in the middle of a river half an hour from the city on a Sunday!"
Sarah Brightman singing anything (especially Phantom) "With One Look" from Sunset Boulevard Basically all of Joseph Most of the score of Spring Awakening "Jellicle Cats" Everything from Thoroughly Modern Millie that wasn't in the movie
there was a time I couldn't stand Morning of the Dragon in Miss Saigon... now I don't mind it
Les Miserbles - Turning is just boring... they cut other stuff from the show but nothing from that boring number?? also... sometimes Stars just annoys me and Drink With Me
Phantom - Prima Donna
RENT- Santa Fe and Without You and if done poorly, Over the Moon
"Shipoopi" from The Music Man "This was a real nice clambake" Carousel "Something Bad" Wicked The whole 'dream sequence' in 9 to 5 "Everybody loves Louis" Sunday in the Park Most of Cats
Liaisons- A Little Night Music. (Though maybe just because I've never seen it done very well.) If I were a Rich Man-- Fiddler. I Dreamed a Dance/There's a World-- N2N. The Lonely Goatherd-- SoM. I Feel Pretty -- WSS.
I've seen Wicked 4 times and I have to agree that I don't like Something Bad. I know it is an important part of the show but I'm so anxious for it to end because I just want the dancing through life scene to come on-it's my favourite. :)
Other than that....I can't think of any more at the moment. I haven't seen too many show to be fair enough in my critiquing.
"There's a fine, fine line between love...and a waste of your time" (L).
Seth Rudetsky is AMAAAHHHZING!
A Very Potter Musical FTW!
Whoever suggested "Little Lamb" from GYPSY obviously never experienced Laura Benanti's brilliantly subtle and horribly sad performance of the song in the recent revival. "Did somebody paint you like that?/ Or is it your birthday too?" is perhaps one of my favorite Sondheim lyrics ever.
Doin' What Comes Nat'rully - Annie Get Your Gun Clambake - Carousel
Both songs make me nauseous.
The way Shipoopi is built into the show, it is actually quite ingenious. And I love Iowa Stubborn! It really sets the stage for the attitude of the town and the challenge to be met by Harold Hill. Like the Ascot Gavotte, it is a costume parade, but it also builds on the foundation of the exposition. If the songs seem to be the worst material in the show, then there probably was no good director on hand. The Music Man can be GOLD, but it has to be mined. And a good production will illustrate how astonishing the material really is.
I actually like the full version of Little People, which added a bit more lightness to a drama-heavy show, but considering it never made it past the world premiere, it just didn't work in its reprise once the full version was dropped.
