Posted: 8/30/04 at 9:54pmI strongly dislike her, but I'd bet she'll end on Broadway sooner or later. I really want her to stay away, but she strikes me as one of those stars that will do anything, simply because they can.

Posted: 8/30/04 at 10:51pmOh, don't be so melodramatic. Worse than her have been on stage, and there are probably worse to come. If she ever does come (and I highly doubt it will happen), protest the best way- don't buy tickets. And tell others to avoid it, too. Won't it be fun to talk about Hillary Duff and the show that ran for a week?

Posted: 8/30/04 at 10:52pmHopefully it will be later ... like way later. Like how I saw Lesley Gore in Smokey Joe's although no one knows who she is anymore. She sang "It's My Party" in the 60s .... she made it to broadway wayyyy later. I guess my kids can look forward to seeing an aged Hilary gracing our fair stages. As long as I don't have to see it.....

Hillary Duff is a HUGE HUGE HUGE star. She has entire fan magazines devoted to her. Christy Carlson Romano dreams of making one TENTH what Hillary Duff earns in a year. She sure as hell aint gonna come to Broadway as a replacement in a stale old show.
Maybe in the starring role in a new musical especially written for her.

Oh, yes, Duff is a huge star. That must be why her movie hasn't made its money back after being out for a month and a half.
Please, let's keep the specially written musicals to people with actual talent and box-office drawing power.

OMG!! I swear I almost died when I read the title of the thread. *catches breath* I really have nothing against Hillary but she does NOT belong on Bway, just no...no! But I was thinking, her sister Hailey (sp.) probably wouldn't be so bad. She's not doing all the publicity stunts, and has kinda been in Hillary's shadow (no matter what they tell the mags.) and I think it'd be cool to see her on broadway--but i'm not sure of waht role.

Posted: 8/31/04 at 1:55amThe only way I can see her doing Broadway is if there is a role in a new show where the character lip-synchs (ala Bombay Dreams).

I wouldn't mind if she replaced Kelli O'Hara in 'Dracula'...

Posted: 8/31/04 at 8:11pmHayley is the singer in the family. Hillary is getting all the attention and work because she got a TV show that shot her to stardom. And there was a reason she took a role in a Disney Channel tween's show and became a huge star out of it - she was adorable as Lizzie McGuire.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 10:41amI don't even think Hailey ia that much of a singer i mean have you heard their duet? She's obviosly the better one but how hard is it to be better than Ms. Duff.

It could be worse.
How? you ask--
One word.
Britney.
By the way, I have already seen Ms. Duff live on Bway.
Well, sort of-- from the Letterman show audience.

Shoot me if she ever does stage. Theatre will be dead to me. Actually, just shoot her. That would solve more problems.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 1:05pmI'd rather gauge out my eyes than see her on Broadway. Really.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 1:09pmLa Duff is experiencing an Olsen Twins style inability to cross over into the adult market. None of her movies have done that well, and her performances in them haven't garnered her very good reviews. She has a movie coming out next month, Raise Your Voice, and if that doesn't do very well, she's in trouble. Personally, I can't stand her and am sort of hoping the movie tanks, which I know is mean, but there you go.

Posted: 9/3/04 at 2:07pmThe problem with the vast majority of tweeny "stars" is that their core audiences grow up within a few years and move on to other things. And, like you said, most of these young actors don't know how to move on to making grown-up movies.
