I agree, I hope Sweeney doesn't do a medley. I would love for them to do one song, either My Friends, or A Little Priest. Why would Into the Woods perform? The show closed on Broadway, and the tour is about to end. I would like to see them showcase next seasons musicals, Here Lies Love, Once Upon a One More Time, Evita, Merrily.
Based on the fact that there’s already a duplicate set piece built (as appeared on The Voice) I’d lay good odds on Independently Owned being performed.
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

While I LOVED Alex's performance, I want them to diversify what they televise for SHUCKED! Give us the corn opening number!!!

Maybe I'm misguided but it seems like shipping a two story platform across the country would be more costly than just building a new mini-set in New York?
Lots of Shucked songs are pretty terrific out of context, I'd love one we haven't seen.
IMO, Shucked seems destined to do it Oklahoma or Paradise Square style. l think they do a truncated Independently Owned and then go into Corn or We Love Jesus.
Some of the possible performances might be affected due to the writers’ strike. Because I’m traveling to New York City later this year, I am going to be watching like a Tony Awards target audience, the tourist who hopes to be intrigued enough by a performance or two to want to see a musical I skipped earlier in the year.
A few quick thoughts: A Little Priest would have to be a very truncated version, but Annaleigh Ashford’s status as a WGA member puts any song involving her in doubt unless they’re going to pre-tape the Sweeney Todd performance. It’s surprisingly difficult to think of a major song that doesn’t include Mrs. Lovett, especially if they would like to highlight Josh Groban.
It’s hard to imagine Shucked skipping on a chance to showcase Independently Owned, given Alex Newell’s status as a nominee, but there are other possibilities from the show if they want to highlight its silliness (Corn, the Hee Haw song) or a ballad that includes the cast like Somebody Will.

Well they have already done Corn in a televised performance as well, so your point there is moot.
Maybe this has either been said before or is a dumb thought (I really don't know the ins and outs of how this works) but this adjusted telecast without long bits / written segments seems like a perfect chance to me to have longer musical performances. I've always found four minutes to be so constricting... either you have a great short song (good!) or you cut the hell out of a previously good song and make it awkward to fit the timeslot. Given there'll be less things to do, why not five minutes? Or six? Wishful thinking...

See I think this is a great opportunity to show off the improv talent of the Broadway community. A roulette of improv games. Or karaoke. Or yes and. Or freeze scene. It could be entertaining to see the off the wall in the moment creations. Instead of the scripted boring stuff.

I kind of love this idea. AND longer performances.
I’d love to see Shucked do a little narrator banter (or Kevin Cahoon banter) into I Do. I know, unlikely song choice but it’s such a solid song. Can end with a rousing bit of Corn, especially if we’re getting longer performances.

And I believe they're getting the full 4-5 minute window to perform, too.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Selfishly, I really want Shucked to do "Best Man Wins" - I know they did it on one of the morning shows (Today Show, I think?) but it's such a great number that showcases every element of the show at its best, from the choreography to the orchestrations to the lighting and set design. I could see them doing a medley of Independently Owned and then Best Man Wins - it would give a moment to each of the acting nominees from the show, too.

Agreed! Since there likely won't be any skits or presenter shenanigans, I would have loved to see excerpts from the nominated plays and revivals, even a section of monologues. They have not done anything like this in years, but it has such a special impact. (Viola Davis in KING HEDLEY II comes to mind.)

Is Lea performing though? Would be odd if she's not.

Honestly, I would find it hilarious if they announced the cast of Funny Girl is performing, letting people think Lea would be there, only to end up doing a number without her. "If a Girl Isn't Pretty"? "Henry Street"? "Who Taught Her Everything?"
The ensemble of Funny Girl is posting how excited they are. I’m sure it will be like the Thanksgiving Parade. Lea will sing and they’ll dance around her.
