I was typing this in the Grosses thread, but decided to make a thread for it. Considering potential Best Musical and Best Revival nominees, who and what will probably be performed on the telecast? I was writing because someone said Bad Cinderella tickets are on sale through June. My response was going to be along the lines of wondering whether the show could still have the money to pay for a performance slot on the Tonys even if it were not nominated for Best Musical.
MAYBE a Lea Michele FG performance just because I know to expect anything
All other would have to pay, and I doubt BC has the money to do so, considering it has been losing, but they may pay as a last-ditch effort especially buoyed by ALW.
I really hope the original company for the Into the Woods revival performs.
Considering I'm locked into believing that the Best Musical nominees will be Kimberly, Shucked, NYNY, & Juliet and SLIH and the Revival Nominees will be ITW, Camelot, Parade & Sweeney - I think we'll see all those shows perform (cross fingers for iTW).
As far as non-nominated shows, I don't see it happening. I think Bad Cinderella will be closed by then and I doubt Dancin' will perform. EDIT: I do think A Beautiful Noise might perform even if it's not nominated.
Might we see Funny Girl with Lea get a performance? Will they do anything special for Phantom?
I'd bet that A Beautiful Noise performs, even without a Best Musical nominations.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Isn’t Lea on vacation the week of the tony awards, I would say we shouldn’t count on a performance from funny girl.
I’ve mentioned it elsewhere, but Disney will probably pay for a spot to highlight The Lion Kings 25th anniversary. Maybe opening up the broadcast with the circle of life.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Lea's done Parade once before and LK has done Circle of Life twice on the Tonys. I hope they figure out something new to do.
When I watched Camelot, as soon as Soo began You Make Take Me to the Fair, I immediately thought, "This should be the Tony's number." I know there are other iconic songs, but this really stood out to me.
I think it stands alone so well and is such a fun entry point to a scheming Guinevere that could attract audiences. It reminded me of Gentleman's Guide Tony's performance, which is what made me interested in watching that musical-- all those unique personalities scheming and the dynamics between the characters.
I don't think they'd go that route, but in my heart of hearts, that's what I want.

It's not just non-nominated shows that have to pay for a Tony performance. Or even not-nominated for Musical or Revival shows. EVERY show must pay for a Tony performance, even if nominated. To the tune of 6 figures.
If Lea performs I think she could/should sing "People" for the In Memoriam. I think it'd be weird for her to just randomly sing.
I agree with a lot of thoughts that most of these shows will do medleys - makes the most sense to feature multiple (probable) nominees.
Would love to see... —& Juliet do Roar + Can't Stop the Feeling —Kimberly Akimbo do Anagram + Better (could bleep for CBS, not bleep for Paramount+). Though I agree it'll probably be This Time. Would LOVE some Great Adventure since it's constantly stuck in my head, but is probably too spoilery with the context/staging. —Dancin do Crunchy Granola or maybe even Mr. Bojangles into something like Dancin Man. Just not Sing Sing Sing, which is awesome but I feel like the only piece that's ever performed from this show in all of its iterations! (And semi-iterations like Fosse.) Trying very hard to manifest a Dancin revival nom here. —Some Like It Hot do the title song. Maybe Christian can do a short intro. —Into the Woods I think will depend on who gets noms, but if I had my way it's all Agony all the time —Parade do This Is Not Over Yet into the Old Red Hills finale —Sweeney do a medley of the opening and A Little Priest (or maybe Epiphany/Worst Pies) with a bookended short Ballad of Sweeney Todd end
Haven't seen Camelot, Shucked, or NY NY yet so will withhold judgment but NY NY should of course do the title song. If the show was better received/a frontrunner it would totally be a Tonys opener or closer.
And even though it's not typical for plays, would love to see a Life of Pi performance!
The last revival of Sweeney did a medley and it wasn’t that good. I hope this revival does a truncated “A Little Priest.” It will showcase both stars equally.
For Parade: I wish they would do You Don’t Know This Man and then go into It’s Hard to Speak my Heart. They do This is Not Over Yet so often would love for them to showcase something else.

Everyone knows that song."
A BEAUTIFUL NOISE will be performing at the Tonys. I'd guess Sweet Caroline as well unless they want to do something similar to their Today Show performance to include Robyn Hurder.
