There's also the cost factor to do a performance at the Tony Awards. If a non-nominated show is already bleeding money, the producers aren't going to she'll put the money for a performance at the Tony's. A BEAUTIFUL NOISE is doing decent business and have just extended ticket sales until June 2024. BE MORE CHILL never did well during their short time on Broadway.

I kind of understand Anagram because they'd want to show off Victoria. Make a Wish feels pretty low key and Before I Go runs into the same spoilers problems as Great Adventure, so that basically just leaves Anagram.
However, I do really wish they were doing a medley.
I feel like Make a Wish shows off her range far more than Anagram which is more of just a cute song, though I suppose Anagram allows Justin Cooley to perform too.
I feel doing KA doing Anagram would be a mistake. Sure it’s a good song but I don’t think that will do anything to convince the casual Broadway viewer to see the show. I feel the purpose of a Tony’s performance is to get people to want to see the show that haven’t already. This is why I think “This Time” would be the best choice. It’s upbeat and showcases the whole cast.
I still maintain that if they wanted people to be talking about their performance, they'd do How to Wash a Check. But I always knew that was a pipe dream.
I wonder if the Ice Skating got in the way of doing This Time. They'd need to coat the whole Tonys stage in glycerin just for one performance.
They are going the Fun Home route, and doing a small number, I'd assume mostly in close-ups.
The three showstoppers all present challenges for the broadcast. Attempting to clean the language in Better loses the effect of the song; not only would they need to coat the stage in glycerin, but David Stone would have needed to put up the money to have the show deck for the awards built out of Polyglide, the surface that makes that skating possible; and Check is instructions for how to commit a federal crime, which CBS would never give the OK to featuring on national television.
That Fun Home performance was one of the most impressive things I’ve seen on the Tony Awards, and counterprogramming a smaller, more intimate song isn’t the worst idea. Kimberly Akimbo is a smaller, intimate show.
Anagram’s main asset is Clark, who will undoubtedly give a lovely performance. But Cooley will be stuck rattling off words. It does feel like they’re a bit trapped. Some of best songs give too much of the plot away or probably involve too much of a logistical challenge.
Victoria posted a pic of her and Justin sitting on the bean bag chairs yesterday but when I posted on her account if they were doing Anagram she responded “ it’s a secret”. I don’t feel that song is a great showcase for this musical but I’m guessing that This Time would require the skating rink which would entail much greater expense. Hopefully they spent the $.
Love "Anagram"-- (love the entire score), but I dont think it's the best choice, unless something else is thrown in -- ( think Bonnie Milligan is the $$$$ here as far as selling the show, and need to get a "belt" somewhere... I hope!! -
I think Shucked wins the night! That was PERFECT!!! I wish Alex's segment was just a bit longer, but they showcased everything there is to love about this show! Plus having the Corn Kid do the intro was so creative! Hoping this can sell a lot of tickets for this show!
