Not to mention the ORIGINAL Mme. Thenardier!
OOOOO, The Paris one is REAL good, but I enjoy the Duisburg recording more. I think Sanni Luis (Eponine) and the actress who plays Fantine (I forgot her name) are two of the BEST!
Duisberg is OK.
Bídníci is also good - three disks, full show.

Are all of these in English?
Does Bídníci look like English?
And PARIS?
"Are all of these in English?"
You're funny.
"I was Gavorache last year!"
Who?
Louise Pitre's on the Paris revival album???
Is the Paris revival cast recording still in print?
Not really - it's extremely hard to find.
Try ebay - a lot!
Some UK stores too.

It IS back in print, though. You can get it on amazon.fr.
Here's the cast list, if anyone was wondering...

Just was in Philly 2 weeks ago listening to Colm Wilkinson sing "Bring Him Home" and "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables" live. Was amazing.....
I Miss Les Mis too.
YES -- Louise Pitre is Fantine on the Paris recording, and she's amazing, as always. I also LOVE the Javert, although I can't remember his name at the moment.
If anyone out there has the Belgium recording, it's got a great cast too, although it's unfortunately only one CD. BUT, the recording quality and tweaked orchestrations are fantastic!

Mine's coming back too. LOL In fact, I just rented the Concert on DVD again on Friday.
As far as recordings go, I have the 10th Ani. version, but I'm thinking about getting another one. Which one should I get?

I normally get into a Mizzie phase when I get my hands on a cast recording I don't own (still trying to track down that damn Japanese OCR). Then I don't play anything non-Mis for several months.

It's a very good show. I didn't see it on Broadway, but saw the touring company, which was exceptional. I have the original Broadway cast, and our school did the "school version" for our spring musical (I played several people- Fachlevant the guy who gets stuck under the cart), a constable, a revolutionary and the chorus, essentially). It was very fun and the music is certainly hard to sing, but it was an awesome production. My former babysitter went to NYU and told me about all the shows she had seen, and I remember her giving me a Les Mis shirt (which I still have) and then proceding to explain the synopsis to me (when I was 9). I do remember her telling me about Valjean and how he's a convict and how someone else was caught in his place and how he confessed to being the real prisoner 24601. Anyway, I really like the show; it is superb.
The Producers was the first show I've seen. It was my first theatre obsession. I haven't listened to the music in a while though. Then I was in a music class in the 8th grade where all we learned about was musicals, but that's another story never mind. Crap! Now I have Into the Woods stuck in my head lol!

If you wanna see a real good and refreshing cast of the show, go and catch the show in London during the summer! The new upcoming cast change is SO exciting! check out my xanga for some news: www.xanga.com/ruthiefan_felix
btw, the 10th anniversary CD/DVD was my fav.... why? as if you have to ask!!! look at my name!!!!!!!
My CHICAGO the musical group!!!!
The current 3nt is also extremely strong. I've seen the show over 40 times in the past 10 years, and it's one of the best, most cohesive casts I've ever seen.
Has anyone heard any of the new Japanese recordings yet? The ones that are color coded? I still can't afford mine.
I have EVIE. Have you seen the show 'Iron Chef' on the Food Network? The guy who owns it ans hosts it played Jean Valjean in the OC of Japan.
I remember the first time I saw the Concert DVD at my grandfather's (the first time I'd ever heard Les Mis) and all the Valjean's come up from all the different countries. Well, my dad was on this Iron Chef kick, so we'd been watching it a lot. Then the Iron Chef dude stepped up to the mic and started singing and all started screaming, "Oh my gosh! That's they guy from Iron Chef."
*blink*
I swear it was funny at the time.
I have the Japanese Red, Blue, and the newer Purple cast recordings. They're all fun, mostly because they're recorded live and you can here all the sound effects and people moving around. Makes for a really fun listening experience. The new Purple recording features a much better cast and the recording quality is quite a bit better too.
I'm sorry that your Les Miz obsession has reared its ugly head again. I'm sure a few pills and some therapy will help though. :)
Hi Mother's Younger Brother: I'm a sucker for Ponine and Fantine. How are the actresses that play them in the newer purple cast? I only have one of the older Japanese recordings and am used to Kaho Shimada who sounds like a lil chipmunk to me at times.
I LOVE Les Mis. It's what got me into musical theatre in the first place. :) I've seen the show, read the Brick and the whole schebang... Hugo is amazing.
As for my favorite cast? I'm actually not a fan of the Paris Revival. I stick to the good ol' TAC... Although I've heard better Valjeans live. I have a thing against Colm Wilkinson's Valjean, for some reason. He bothers me.
