when i was about 8 i was absolutely obsessed with Les Mis. it was all i would listen to and i had the broadway on video and thats all i would watch. i was listening to accubroadway and thenardier waltz just came on. i know all the words and i havent listened to it in like 4 years. now im walking around the house looking for the OCR and the video. lol.
Les Mis was one of the shows that started my obsession with Broadway. I was starting to neglect it until I heard it and now I'm looking for my cast recording. I guess we are in the same boat.
"He who falls in love with himself will have no rivals"

Les Miz rekindled my love of broadway only a year and a half ago. I had seen lots of other shows..they fell under either the Annie or Mamma Mia or Rodgers and Hammerstein category. Les Miz helped me appreciate musical drama and now I'm a huge Sondheim freak because of it..ironic how those things work out
"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living
piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character
and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and
incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness.
Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish
it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a
rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the
real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get
along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small
unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings.
Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end.
But end it does. Another part of you vanishes.
That's show business."-Anonymous
1. Complete Symphonic (I just like having the whole show...) 2. Broadway (gotta love what you were brought up on) 3. 10th Anniversary Concert (would be second, but I'm loyal to Broadway...hah) 4. London
Les Miz has always kept me interested in Broadway. I love it.
It really has become the time for old obsessions to be re-kindled. I recently was sorting out my cast recordings and came upon my Broadway CATS double album... put it in to hear one or two songs that I hadn't heard in years... and soon found myself watching the DVD before the night was over. Heh. *hangs head in shame*
As for Les Mis... that was the obsession after CATS... I have heard all the recordings and prefer:
1) Complete Symphonic Recording 2) Dream Cast 10th Anniversary 3) Original Broadway 4) Original London

As for Les Mis... that was the obsession after CATS...
Hey, me too! I've since gotten over both, because after them came The Producers, and now Altar Boyz. Just once, I'd like to be obsessed with a Sondheim show.
Anyway, my top four: 1. 10th Anniversary Cast 2. CSR 3. Broadway 4. London
Les Mis was teh first show I remember seeing, although my parents tell me i saw Beauty and teh Beast before it. I love it, even if iI've only seen it 3 times. Annnd, I've got the Broadway OCR, and teh London OCR.
Awwww... Les Miz was the first show that I saw with all 8 of my friends. We were all passing around tissues everytime Eponine (Diana Kaarina) came on. I did it recently at my theater place, and now it's my...3rd favorite show. (Not like I'm counting, lol) Updated On: 6/19/05 at 04:31 PM
I've always LOVED Les Mis, though it's true that for the past few years I didn't think about it ! But seeing it after years, last month in London for the 3rd time , I fell in love with it all over again !
when i was little i remember hearing castle on a cloud on oprah they were doing a special on kids and i fell in love with the song and the musical for a minute i would only audition with songs from les mis lol nothing wrong with a lil obsession lol
LES MIZ is my ULTIMATE FAVORITE show! I've seen it in London, Mexico, New York and thru out California. I've seen it twice at the Curran in SF just this month. Of the four recordings mentioned, the OLC is my favorite.
^^ Me too! I have 23 cast recordings of the show, and the Paris revival (Robert Marien, Louise Pitre, etc.) is my absolute favorite. THE best overall cast on a recording, by FAR. :)
