I can’t link it here but her husband just posted to her Instagram that she is out of the ICU, and the baby is unharmed.

NY Daily News: Ruthie Ann Miles Injured, Daughter Killed By Driver in Brooklyn

I won't speculate on Ruthie Ann, but speaking from personal experience, I was surprised to find out after I was well on the way to recovering from a head injury, that I had been listed as "critical" even after I was sitting upright, eating on my own, talking to family, etc. I asked the doctor about it and he said that some types of injuries have to be monitored very closely, and thus earn the "critical" label for as long as it is necessary to monitor them. So, "stable but critical" makes sense to me in that context.

Update from today's Daily News - driver still hasn't been charged.

Park Slope driver had medical emergency days before crash that killed two kids; criminal probe focuses on her ill health

Medics arrived at deadly driver Dorothy Bruns’ Staten Island apartment on March 2 after receiving a call about a cardiac condition, FDNY sources said.

Her address had become a frequent stop for emergency responders, the sources said.

A medical crew went to Bruns’ home Dec. 22 after another 911 call about a cardiac condition. A crew did the same Nov. 19.

In fact, Bruns had been in such bad health that this past January, she went out on medical leave from her job, according to a source with knowledge of her history. She didn’t return until February, when she was given medical clearance.

Bruns’ medical past — and what doctors told her to do — is now at the heart of a criminal probe into her crash.

Investigators are trying to determine whether doctors had instructed Bruns to stop driving because of her health conditions.

The 44-year-old divorced mother has multiple sclerosis and suffered a seizure before running a red light in Park Slope and crashing her car into two families on March 5, investigators have said.
