Crapacobana! Hands down the worst peace of crap I have ever seen. And I will even admit to enjoying a little Barry now and then.... but this was baaaaaad!
Silence of the Lambs: the Musical........ biggest waste of a 15 dollar student rush ticket that me, or any one has ever commited.
And someone said Aida, Aida OWNS you.
And also, who'd have thought someone who could write something as good as Aida would totally (figuratively) commit suicide by lettin lestat happen, and even worse, write for it

I second whoever said "By Jeeves"----just a boring, stupid (not in a good way) show.

Here's one that none of you would have seen...THE HISTORY OF AUSTRALIA - the musical. It was as bad as it sounds.
There is a tour of URBAN COWBOY? How did that happen?

Certainly Carrie and The Dead could qualify as worst--(although I quite liked "The Dead"). The fact that it may have had a few good songs doesn't mean it can't be the worst--in fact it just shows how bad the rest of the show was--and some of the music is beyond dreadful.

I actually think three of the songs from Lestat are good (and none of them are sung by Claudia) but apart from that, I agree with you.
We Will Rock You, while genuinely terrible throughout almost the entire show...was one of the most awesome things I've ever experienced in theatre, just because of the last 15 minutes alone.
Behind the Iron Mask
The Red Shoes
Bernadette
Thou Shalt Not
That British musical about the aftermath of Hiroshima. Was that Into the Light? I can't get through 25% of the score.
All boring and/or just dreadful.
"Parade: What a ghastly idea for a musical! Furthermore, the young lady on whose murder the show turns, is dead and gone ten minutes into the show, and the rest of the show focuses on the trial. We never understand who Mary Phagen was and why she may have died, nor are the Franks likeable people, so we don't care about them. There's a really uncharacteristic song at the end of the first act where Leo sings about seducing young girls which is all wrong. I left at the interval."
LOL!! First, the show is not about Mary, it is about Leo and the show makes it quite clear by the end how she died and Leo's innocence is played out in the final scene. Why Mary died is completely irrelevent to how she died and by whom was she murdered. It is about the continuing unrest between the North and the South nearly 40 years after the Civil War and the ongoing resentment boiling in the South. I guess you didn't get the part where the "uncharacterstic song" was actually the false testimony of the factory girls being played out. It was called "Come Up to My Office". I thought Parade was extraordinarily beautiful and a brilliant, creative, original idea for a musical. One of the 10 best musicals of the 90s.

Yes, I know its been playing forever, but my vote goes to "Mamma Mia". Horrible.
I agree that both "Mail" and "Charlie and Algernon" are horrible, but they both have nice music.
Thou Shalt Not is my worst pick.
oh, and does anyone remember a wretched little show called "A Change In The Heir"? Not sure if that one was Bway or off.

i like Honk! It was popular in England and won some awards I believe. There has not been many major productions of it in American so it isnt really fair to hate it...a lot of community theatre or highschools makes any show look terrible
Ok!
1). Those of you who said POTO are crazy!
2). It looks like none of you have seen/heard WHICH WITCH. For if you had, that would be the show stated in every post within this thread.
I stand alone on this-always have, always will
For ME at least (which I'm assuming is the theme of this thread), I named the worst musical : WICKED
NYC_or_Bust,
I'm not a Wicked lover either, but the worst musical?
What about it did you dislike so much?

OK I LOVE the musical version of Yours, Anne, having done it twice it is such a wonderful piece of work. Most of the lyrics used in the song were actual words written by Anne Frank. It may not be Broadway material, but it isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. We did it for school kids that were reading the books in school, so they could come in and maybe understand parts of the book that they weren't understanding just reading the book. Even though I loved working on Charlie and Algernon it isn't the greatest piece of theatre, but it holds a special place in my heart.
I have a few that no one has mentioned. How about "The Utter Glory of Morrisey Hall" Or "Smike" "Wind in the Willows" All of those are pretty bad. I would say Annie Warbucks, but it actually has some nice songs, although the story is stupid. Oh another one "Half a Sixpence" I have done all of these.....

I can only pick one that I've seen personally, and I choose Brooklyn.
why do i get the feeling that some people who say Carrie,Legs diamond etc havent even seen the show or werent even old enough to see them when they were around and are just going of there reputation.
Both shows had some amazing moments
Carrie was noted as been so Heartbreaking because half of the show was so fantastic but that the other half spoilt it.
Here are three more to add to the voting...
ROCKABYE HAMLET
KELLY
WIND IN THE WILLOWS
...and although never on Broadway....MOBY DICK: THE MUSICAL should be included. I got a cassette (yes you read that right!) of this musical at a Tony Awards party a few years back -- and once I listened to it I knew why it was being given away!
