Not crazy about the Mermaid costumes, and Flotsam and Jetsam look like neon lizards. But, the sets are gorgeous, by and large.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Some of it does look good. But I still can't get past Ursula's costume. Those paper lantern arms are take all the menace out of her. I can't look at her without thinking of those tiled column monsters that chased Michael Jackson through the subway in The Wiz movie. They had those same arms flopping around. I wish I could find a pic.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
Actually, Ursula's costume is probably one of the better ones in the show, judging from the pictures. Sure the tentacles could use a little work, but I think on the most part, it looks great. And this is coming from a person who couldnt stand the costume when I first saw the picture- but its kind of grown on me.
My question is, since when did eels become iguanas and chamber maids wear pinatas?
Oy. Still, on the most part, its looking pretty good, I'll be anxious to see it in about a month.

I do like the rest of her costume and I love her hair and makeup. But those arms ruin it for me. I'm particularly annoyed because I think the movie version of Ursula is the absolute best Disney villainess of all time. I can't stand seeing her turned into this firecracker monster.

some of you people are the death of theatre. what they have done is so creative. it is not and never will be the animated film and thank god. i personally love the maids outfits. i dont want to see real life on stage and those skirts are so off the wall and creative. just open your minds people you havnt even seen the show! Mayb the maids are all very cluckey? pick a little talk a little esq? Whatever the inspiration I think it looks like a childs imagination has exploded on stage and thats wonderful. I personal adore th mermiad tail skirts! I would not pay to go and see two hours of wire work its horrible. go see lord of the rings if you want prrof. it looks naf. the director has obviously decided that the STORY IS THE STAR
After looking at the pics and the video, the maid costumes are my only thing. I like the tail! And I did realize the chicken thing. They all gossip around Ariel during Beyond My Wildest Dreams. I ain't dumb. ;P
It is interesting about the whole gossiping around Ariel thing; that makes sense on why they would choose the skirts. I still think there butt ugly but c'est la vie, the shell bathtub is nifty
Your aspirations are your possibilities-Samuel Johnson (and a little help from nomdeplume)
Still a little apprehensive about the wheelie shoes that the cast will be wearing. But I shall not pass judgment until I actually see the production. I have a feeling that visually it will be amazing seeing as it is Disney.

Reviews and the like
So ullabelt, because we do not like the dresses (or Ursula's costume or whatever) for this show, we are the death of theatre? Look, I do applaud Disney for trying something new. But I still hold the opinion that much of this new stuff looks awful. And that's my opinion.

The costumes and set are all fine and dandy, I feel like I’m interested in this show for all the wrong reasons though. Well primarily just one reason. The man-to-man physical attraction that I have for Mr. Norm Lewis. Like my love for that man burns with the intensity of ten thousand suns!!! Perhaps I should stop drooling, before I come off like those crazy stalker fans. I love beautiful signing men. Sometimes I wish the world was only populated by beautiful singing people. Can anybody tell me how to copy the pictures off the Disney website and make the one of Norm my profile picture?
Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.
If you're on a WINDOWS, print screen... it's a button on the upper right of your keyboard.. copy to the paint program... and then save as a picture file...
Is the Ariel taking a bath scene from her time on land? Could the ladies with the sponge costumes be... sponges (under the sea of course)? I'm just askin'.
