What a stunning photo! All of the women look phenomenal.
I'm glad to see the new support for Dame Judi as Lilliane. I've been thrilled since she was announced and the photo just furthers my feelings of how delicious she'll be in the role. Can't wait to see it!

If you look at the bottom of the shot where the "FilmJerk" logo is, you can see what looks to be DDL with his back to the camera. Also all of the women are looking right at him. So it seems to me that this is actually taken from a scene in the film. Though, what scene exactly is any one's guess. Could be from the Overture...
Edit: Also they're all standing in front of, what look like, Roman ruins.

BBC over the 2009 Christmas season.
Meanwhile, Judi's having fun working with director Rob Marshall and 'the girls' on movie musical Nine with Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Fergie and leading man Daniel Day Lewis.
Judi plays costume designer Lily and gets to sing Folies Bergere. 'I don't do any dancing, but I shimmy around,' she told me at the Quantum Of Solace party in Battersea.

Per a rep with Rob Marshall's office -- yes, that is the first press photo released. It is not a scene from the film but a publicity photo with ALL of the main women of the film.
Nothing more... nothing less.

Why didn't Banderas get it? He is a star, has a good enough stature & killed in the part on stage .
I cannot imagine Lewis in it but time will tell.
